    got poi?

I recently discovered a few closet poi spinners amoung the oxford kiters, and was wondering how many of you guys juggle? Also, this is a fantastic poi book, lots of tricks to learn and there all well explained. Will keep you going for years. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1898591199/qid%3D1124616223/026-5710240-5241207 Have fun! Matt

    lmfao, i like your style.
  5. I had a short go (15 mins or so) on a mates 11.5 sabre back to back with my frenzy 05 12. Personally from this "short" experience i found the sabre easier to fly, but it was low winds so i also found myself underpowered compared to the frenzy. Now, ive had a lot of practise on my 12, and found it difficult to fly when i first got it (now i love it), and the mate the had my frenzy was having a bit of a mare now and again. Its difficult cause we all say, try them first! But i never had the opportinity before i took the plung, what ever you get youll learn and enjoy it.
  6. I cant see it moving, it inflates and has a shuffle around every now and again, just to let us know its there like. Apart from that im not sure wild horses could drag it off
  7. The best way is to try them both a decent amount of times, from a half hour blat im sure they will seem quite similar. Personally ive found the sabres easier to fly at the expense of some performance. Loki speak truth there i think. It was the quick release re ride that sold the frenzy for me, but at the time there wasnt a 100 squids difference between the two. If there had have been i might have gone the other way. Both superb kites though, you wont be dissapointed either way.
  8. Yeah, takes quite a bit to get you going on the 7m. Might end up wishing youd bought a 10? Got a big blade up your sleave for low winds, is that it?
  9. Thats cool, what equipment did you need to do that?
  10. The kite atb site has lots of info: http://www.kiteatb.co.uk/_basics/jump.html Hope this helps, Matt.
  11. Well, each different programming language has its own "Syntax", this is the way in which you write down what you want the program to do. This is very similar to the way different languages each have different Grammar. The way you write down something in English and in German can be different. What happend above is kind of the equivilient of: Help!, i cant get this sentance to work!: "I want to sea a lot of furnitures in a shop, but i don.t know wear to go?" Hmm didnt you mean: "I want to see a lot of furniture in a shop, but I don't know where to go!" Ahh, thanks. It works know! Hope that made sense Matt
  12. Running a beta OS should not really be an issue as long as you have 2 partitions, and can install it dual boot along side your primary operating system. Having said that, i made sure i had full backups prior to install Been playing with Visual studio 2005 with .net v2.0 as well, there are some nice new features, especially in the ide. The refactoring tools are a welcome addition for sure. What im really looking forward to Visual Studio Team System, lets face it Source Safe was ok, but you need to control more than just source code in software projects! Hopefully ms have made some real inroads into products like the Rational Suite. Im gonna stay out of the whole mac debate, i like playing games, so its a no brainer for me really.
  13. Having flown the 11.5 sabre back to back with my 12 frenzy, i have to say i was underpowered on the sabre. Very forgiving kites to fly though, much easier. Horses for courses, try em all if you can! Matt (that biased bloke)
  14. They do go together well Ive been having some serious 12m loving over summer, though im no where near being able to hold it down in 20mph winds (im 14st as well). It took a while to learn how to fly the 12m though, i got p1ssed with it for a while, but now i love it. I've been learning to jump recently and have found the 12m much nicer, the 7m takes you up quick, and drops you with a bump. 1 kite = 10 ? 2 kites = 7 + 12 ? Thats my theory anyway Matt
  15. Well, i finally got around to installing the beta 1 version of the new windows, Windows Vista previously codenamed Longhorn today. I have to admit that its quite nice, the changes to windows explorer are actually quite profound. We seem to be discouraged from browsing a "folder hierachy", and encourage to "search and filter" for files when we want to find them. The best analogy i can think of is googling your hard disk. One major change in internet explorer version 7 is tabs, and being able to open a web page in a new tab rather than a whole new window. This wont impress firefox users though. The new Aero desktop theme is very dark, blues and blacks, and i must admit i like it. I always had an issue with windows xp's teletubbie feel. On the whole, for a beta release its very stable and i havent *touch*wood* had any issue yet. We definatley saw a big push on the sever os with Windows 2003, its nice to see that the next version of windows will be a big push for the desktop os again. Matt
  16. If you are talking about the "top hat" video, then yes. There is a longer version that has a telephone interview at the end with the guy explaining what happened to him. Pretty scary stuff....
  17. Check this video out: http://www.kiteflix.com/kiteboarding_video_brazil.html After some kiteboarding this guy goes on to use what i think is a skim board, not sure. He does some mad skate board stylee tricks on it, really impressive stuff. Matt
  18. I like that idea it could work really well. I wonder if you could sooper impose the kite so it looked like it was flying on 2m lines?
  19. There have been a lot of really good kiteboard vidoes about recently that i have really enjoyed watching. But... I cant help but feel a little cheated that none of them show what the rider is doing with the kite. Personaly i would find it very helpfull if at least during a few tricks i could see how the riders are setting themselvs up and redirecting during their jumps. Tbh this is prolly cause im having trouble keeping in control of any jumps over a few feet, and i could do with some help. Cmon guys, teach us how!
  20. No i dont, but i can imagine it would probably be bit uncomfortable as its a bit difficult to sit down on the ground without loosening it.
  21. I found i was getting back ache using a seat harness, so i moved onto a waist harness that has quite a lot of back support. I dont get the back ache any more, but i do get a very sweaty midrift, and i miss the padding on my hips.
  22. listen to xdavemarshallx, its not a good idea to own a blade iii 4.9 as your first kite imho. When you start out you need a kite that is going to forgive you when you make a mistake, the blade will punish you. Even the radsails i found quite a handfull when i was learning. My mate had a 5m radsail pro, and it was very unforgiving. You just have to realise that your first kite will be a "trainer", then you can move on to bigger and better things. Its not worth risking a serious accident for the sake of a months practise and 150 squids on a forgiving kite like a buster / beamer/ bullet / samuri (4m tops). Personaly, on a budget = buster, money no worries = samuri, buy hey, i might be biased Just my 2 pence obviously.
  23. "not a beginners aircraft by any means" Good luck!
  24. I would concentrate on: 1) Changing direction. Get to the end of your run, take the kite above you, move it a little behind to bring yourself to a controled stop, then drop the kite to start going in the opposite direction. 2) Upwind and downwind. See how far you can get upwind, you need to be powered up and get a little speed first. Then try some runs taking you down wind, and a few taking you back upwind. These are the 2 basic things you need to be able to get around a field, and avoid others when you need too. After that you can move onto funky stuffs.
  25. They have had a ladder upto the gutter, then a 12m fishing pole trying to get it off. The pole only reached to the bottom of the kite, so they tried hooking it with a 3 pronged hook but it kept snapping the 10lb fishing line apparently. The roof is covered with 2 inch metal bolts, and the bridal is well and truly caught on them. Its not going anywhere at the moment. Trust me, the only way this puppy is comming down is by getting upto it with crawl boards and detaching it bit by bit. As the roof is so thin, this can only be done by the maintenance contractors. Big props to Furious D for coming to take a look today, thanks mate.
