  1. But thats not right? Now I am thoroughly confused. I am a kiter I live inland But I'm not normal I must be a paradox! (Or was that what I just saw on the boating lake?)
  2. How can this be? Most people in this country live inland, so how can it be that about an even number of people fly at the beach? Do you all go away every night to fly your kites? Tell me the secret. Is there a kite shop where you can buy a beach as well? perhaps I should put an advert in Wanted!!!
  3. Thanks for all the tips. Will try out some old flat soled shoes!! And as for Simon's suggestion... Before I follow your ideas, just remind me what I have to do to avoid a broken leg:D
  4. So, I fly inland (this is straight after the poll on where you fly) and I always have the same problem. When I try to get dragged by my kite, my shoes dont slip. They just stick in firm, then finally I go head over heals and follow my kite along on my chin!! What am I doing wrong HHHEEEEELLLLLPPPP!
  5. Same for me as madandy and the others. If I went to the beach every time I wanted to fly my kite, I'd be driving 3 hours a day minimum!!! I fly at the local park/green space!!! Having said that, I'm looking forward to flying on the beach on holiday. On the subject of inland...see my post about shoes!!
  6. hey, flyboy. Do they do self catering. I spoke to someone from Mark Warner, but they said all they would do is plain hotel rooms! But it wouldnt be the first time the travel agent had no idea about the holiday!
  7. Good news guys. Neilsons have come up trumps, and moved the whole thing to Greece instead. The only thing is they are not yet sure whether they'll do kite surfing there. But hey, I'll take my kites and have fun anyway, and then I'll go to the canaries with extreme holidays instead next year. Ah well. Thanks
  8. Thanks for the ideas so far. Gonna try some of them. Simon. As for the sailing club, its BTYC. Next door Wembley SC. I thought they were going to merge, but they seem to spend a lot of time talking about it and nothing has happened so far?!
  9. Tried the google search. Lots of places that do two of the three, but none that seem to do all of them. As for the DIY approach, can't kite surf, dont have a windsurf board, and dinghy is a club dinghy, so not for me alone!! So, nice idea, but wont quite fit the bill. I like the sausage and wine idea though!!
  10. Okay everyone. HEEELLLPPP! I've been into kiting for a while now, and was planning on my debut into kitesurfing on a holiday with Neilsons in Spain. It was a great idea. Kitesurfing, which sounds fun, combined with dinghy sailing, which I love and have doen for years, windsurfing, which I am c**p at, but love, all on a sandy beach, and with an apartment to relax in, rather than a small hotel room in the middle of nowhere. And then what happens!! Neilsons phone to cancel the whole thing!!! To be fair to them, its not their fault entirely. The next door resort is having major rebuilding, and they said that the resort is going to be pretty much unusable from September on for a year!!! So, does anyone out there know of a company that does kitesurfing, sailing and windsurfing? All with an apartment? So far, I have found other companies that do kitesurfing and windsurfing, or sailing and windsurfing, or all three, but not with an apartment. So, I am getting desperate. Any one got any ideas, or do I have to give up and learn in the UK, in which case, help, its cold!!! All ideas welcome, and thanks all of you! Perry
  11. Hi Tim, New kite has arrived!!! It's a bullet 3.5, and my birthday, and so first flying day, is Thursday. Only problem is that I go sailing at the welsh harp on Thursdays as well. Blast, too many hobbies!! I'll probably get down to copthall at some point Thursday or Friday, otherwise, I'll be there Sunday. I normally try and go down there after work, so get there around 6pm weekdays. The only problem is that there's too much going on this week and next, so I don't think I'll get much time. So....if you see a guy flying a blue bullet 3.5, looking like he doesn't know what he is doing, and being dragged all over the place, then walk up, say 'hi perry' and keep your head low in case I crash the thing. Once I've got this sussed, it'll be a landboard or buggy next. Oh dear, what is happening to my wage!!! I used to have savings, and now I have kites! See ya soon, and thanks for the offer. Happy birthday for Friday!
  12. Thanks, I'll drop a note to the others, and hope. Wish your knee better!
  13. Hi guys, Just wondering who I should look out for. I have been flying 2 line kites for a while now, and tend to fly at barnet copthall. If all goes to plan, I should be getting a 4 line for my birthday next week, and was hoping that those of you who fly at copthall (I've seen you!) can help me and give me a few pointers. I've flown a skytiger a few times, but am really new to this. A few pointers would be appreciated, and then you can stnad back and laugh at me as I get myself tied up in lines!! When do you lot tend to go down there? I used to always see people flying on a Monday night, but haven't done recently. Thanks Perry
  14. Hi guys. The picture you were looking for about the guy over hawaii is in the middle of this web page http://www.kitemare.com/Kitemares.htm They reckon 50m, which by my maths is 164 ft, or there about. Still waiting for my first jump, as I am only just about to get a decent 4 line kite. Wish me luck!
