  2. Just a quick note to inform people, Wind & Wheels will be holding it's 1st club race in a 5 round series this Sunday. Dave A
  3. Mick, 6ft 1in - 14.5 stone does not look so bad now !! Dave A
  4. Jase, Using the sit in buggy method and roll the tyre one revolution to measure the circumfirance, I set mine to 1170mm. This is for tyre pressure at 12psi and 14.5stone in it. Depending on your tyre pressure and weight that figure will change. Dave A
  5. TallPaul, If you want to try some club racing before the July come over to Uphill Weston super Mare with the Wind and Wheels Club, we have a 5 race days planned for this year which will be posted on the web site in the near future ( currently being revamped http://www.windandwheels.org.uk/forums/). Not so intimidating with only 10 to 15 pilots taking part or most Sundays Tides And Wind permiting we put some Cones out and just practice you are very welcome to join in. To race W & W series you will need FED insurance. Regards Dave Andrews K17
  6. Nice to see the UK guys racing. Amazing height the guy gets up to at the beginning 40ft over land. I think he tethered on a closer look. Well worth down loading. Dave A
  7. Hi, I don`t think there is. If you want to make your bearings last along time try putting grease nipples on each wheel, I use Straight nipple 6mm dia. x 1mm thread drill hole angled to come out just behind bearing to fit a grease gun on. Remove both the inner seals of the bearings , pack the area between the bearing spacer with grease. You then only need a couple of pumps with a grease gun (don`t use a lever type gun they clip over the grease nipple to tight), but a small hand pump type) to fill back up with grease after a buggy session to replace any lost grease that comes out. Important not to put to much in. I always clean the out side of the bearing off after a buggy session and lightly grease the out side to stop the bearings rusting near the seals which will damage them. I also put washers next to the bearing when bolting the wheels this stops sand getting near the inner diameter of the bearing where it rubs on the seal. This works very well and bearings lasts a long time Dave A
  8. Only had one problem with it and that was when I took it to Branny  Sand gets in the button and stops it working properly Insead of taking it apart just put a piece of Duck tape over and around the button area. Button still works ok and sand can`t get in. Dave A
  9. This is not a very accurate method I presume you just measured the circumfirance of the tyre with no load on it? (Your weight and the tyre pressure you set, reduces the circumfirane). Measure one revolution of the tyre set at your normal operating pressure. Tape a pencil to the side of the tyre / wheel, mark start and finish points get some one to push you. There is quite a big differance. My general settings are 12psi 14.5 Stone Cir = 1170mm. 44 MPH Dave:)
  10. I was not directing at you lads. There some others that arrived later on and a group of mini sailors. I just thought it was a good opportunity to remind people of some basics, especially new commers, when using the wind zone. Dave A
  11. Glad to see your ok after your experiance. On a more serious note! I was there Saturday bugging, there were alot of people using the Wind Zone with no Helmets. Some were driving buggys outside the Wind zone. Can users remember we are supposed to use helmets as part of the conditions of use of the wind Zone and to use your buggy only in the wind zone . The wooden posts are not soft and there to protect the public. I`am sure none of us want any adverse publicity with some one getting hurt. Dave A

  16. The only problem is you will sweat alot with this type of non breathable suit and end up quite wet inside. Save the pennies and buy breathable if at all possible Sailing type gear is good.
