  10. Phew! thats a relief. Many thanks. Cheers Kev
  11. Hi, just had a look at Edge's webcam to see if the fair had gone from our usual kiting ground, and now it looks like they are building on it!! anyone know what going on? cheers Kev
  12. many thanks Dave, I don't think of myself as 38, but my body shouts it at me sometimes! see you saturday (?) for some extreme trundling??? cheers Kev p.s. no, not much work to do at all!
  13. just like my blades then, but i guess it puts you down more gently! cheers Kev
  14. I suppose that if they kite luffs in a gust, then lines go slack etc. Thats why arcs are appealing to me! cheers
  15. Hi, I presume that s handles with your fixed bridle ? My latest bad one was flying my 2m blade (on handles) when I was lifted like a leaf out of the bug, put back down, pulled over and dragged, though managed to get to the quick release (the superb whichard) and recover. Complete loss of style! Thats why an arc is so appealing, as gusts + blades = just about anything! cheers
  16. so, they are very stable, forgiving, eat up gusts and travel upwind well and good to look at, well made (presumably), launch in light and strong winds, great depower range. anything I've forgotten ?? cheers
  17. many thanks for the replys, good to hear such enthusiasm for the arc's. I see that if there isn't enough wind, they won't inflate and launch, what are they like in strong or gusty wind to launch? Guessing there's no inflation issues there! From what a see they aren't going to power up fully in 10 nanoseconds like blades will and have you wondering what part of your body is going to hurt after the experience! (still love the blades though) cheers Kev
  18. (mmm that was a nice chinese!!) Thanks for the info about the arc's, confirmed the little I knew about them and added a whole lot more. Now to earn some brownie points with my better half and see what happens after our camping holiday. I suppose I could use the tent !?! Oww, let go of my ear! cheers Kev
  19. thanks for the info about low winds, arcs looking more like a kite to cover most winds (except very low) if you have limited room in the car because of kids and their clobber and don't have the room to take 1/2 fixed bridles! cheers
  20. Now that sounds like just the ticket. No more waiting for the 'blade to bite!' How is it in light winds? cheers Kev
  21. Hmmmm, lots to think about. I have heard it's possible to get an arc mostly inflated then it will fully inflate as you fly, or is this a myth? Have heard that arcs are good upwind as well. I thought that as I was thinking about replacing my 6.4, I would get something a bit more versatile, but will have to consider the wind range. 5-6mph got me moving with my 6.4 and mates 9.5 sabre1, though not breaking any records! (bigfoots and soft sand) Have to say, arc's look great in the air! presumably, phantoms are lifty like the blades but without the 'no warning' bite you on the bum antics!! cheers
  22. Hi, the kite in question on the vid was a scorpion 10m. came across it in the video's threads. I know that the projected area is different than stated for arc's but 13m? gulp! What sort of wind range would that be for a 16 1/2st lump?? Was hoping 10m might just be enough. cheers Kev
  23. They seem to be 'super' stable as well. seen the auto zenth video and someone buggying with an arc. Looked very comfortable. Self launching seem to be interesting but just a bit of practice. A least you'll probably only have to do it once during a sesh. cheers Kev
  24. Hi, thanks for replys, have read a lot about the access, nicely made kite that flys great with little lift so sounds ideal. But arc's have grabbed my attention, and a bit different to what I fly now. Had a very brief go on my mates sabre in very little wind, was smooth as you like and buggying with a bar was a revelation. (no tangled mess of strops, kite killers etc and as I have arms like an orang-utan, so I can reach the bar ends o.k!) How do you manage the lift on some of these arcs as I understand they are quite lifty? With blades I guess it's how quickly you move them to the zenith. And is there a decent depower range with arcs? Only reason i ask is the location I fly in. Gusts, wind direction moves, perios of lulls and then periods of high. (I fly on estuary flats, but wind more often then not comes over the town) cheers Kev
  25. Hi, just wondering if there are any buggyiers out there who don't jump etc but just cruise aound but still use an arc??? Thinking of replacing my much used, much repaired, worn out but reliable 6.4 blade and an arc looks very tempting with their stability and gust resistance. I just trundle around on my board and buggy and love my blades (though everyone has bitten me) and something with a reasonable wind range looks good. many thanks Kev
