  1. I think it will need a few more controls than handlebars/levers for the kite and a rudder!
  2. I'd be very interested in any experiences round here. Or anywhere nearby where it's allowed.
  3. Right. Well it was going to be second hand anyway, so ultra-cheap. But I guess I won't be getting one now! I just don't wanna pay 70+ for a harness, seems a little over the top. I'll end up getting one off ebay I'm sure. Thanks for the warnings.
  4. I've seen a few Eolo harnesses for sale, and they're pretty cheap compared to major brands - I assume either because it's a less-known brand, or because the quality's inferior. Has anyone seen/used one? Are they of reasonable quality, or are they a bit cheap and break after the first use? Thanks for any advice.
  5. I was about to post a similar topic, but I'll be spending a bit more time in France, not just a weekend, so I was thinking I'd head down to the south coast. Good kitesurfing there?
  6. HOFY9, Tjah1087, vinny, Urb: looks like we have a nice big group of people up for saving on petrol :-) I'm definitely up for going in a large group to save money, and also just to meet more people to chat to etc. Also, when I get this kite, I might need a little help from a Cambridge kiter to get the lines set up properly (I'll try myself, but when it all goes pear-shaped...). I was told to try and shorten the rear lines a little, but it'd be good to get advice from some more experienced blokes. Now I just need some money :-) Also, what's the water temperature like up there? Wetsuit temperature I assume?
  7. Cool link. I'd like to get there sometime - what are good winds and tides to look out for?
  8. Anyone got photos of Hunstanton? Seems to be ane asy place to go to, and cheap (relatively) as far as transport goes.
  9. Nah I'm just on my gap year. Lived in England til I was 13 then moved down under, and now I'm back in Cambridge for a few months. I'm planning to leave to travel in September, but whether I leave at the start or end of September depends on how much I earn and how much I spend. Assuming I buy a kite, board, and harness, it'll mean I stay in Cambridge longer and travel less :-P Where are you based?
  10. Cool thanks for that. I was often at Holme next the sea as a kid, so I roughly remember the area. Pity you won't be in Camrbidge, but that's OK, I'm more looking for people in Cambridge who I could travel with for a day to the sea, or otherwise for people in a place (like Hunstanton) where I could meet up. I also might be heading down to Whitstable and I know there's some kiting to be done down there, but it'd a big travel. Still keen for some day trips.
  11. I'm soon going to buy myself a kite and board, having only kitesurfed once in Australia (the first two lessons didn't work out due to lack of wind and bad organisation, but I followed the third time lucky law and the lesson was great and I got up happily) but more experience landboarding. I'm planning to get a 9m CB3 in a package with board and harness (the harness I used for landboarding was that Quadrifoil one - I dunno if it's even made any more, but it used to be nicknamed the nutcracker). I'm going to be based in Cambridge this summer, with very little chance to take holidays for more than about a day I fear, so can anyone recommend some good day trips which would take me to suitable places for learning. Obviously closer is better. Also if there's anyone in Cambridge who kitesurfs (I know there are a heap of traction kiters, but I really wanna meet some kitesurfers) it'd be great to have a chat. thanks, Ian
  12. Hey could someone give me links to a kiteshop in the U.S that has an online shop? As close to Iowa as possible. Thanks, Ian
  13. And What glue should I use? Ian
  14. It's probably going to be the hardest part but probably very important especially if there are no fins. What shape should the rails be? Ian
  15. When making a ply-wood board with 2 or 3 layers, should I glue it and put weights on to get the rocker and then cut the shape, or should I cut the shape and then glue and put weights on for the rocker? Thanks, Ian
