  1. sorry I missed the isze of its a 4.9m
  2. Ive got a blade mk1 in good condition with new lines and handles for £170 Andy
  3. are you still looking for some cheap starter stuff? Andy Im in bristol as well.
  4. I saw someone on the water with a home made bamboo board. he used fishing line to lash some split bamboo strips together, tied on a pair of sandals and was cruising with the rest of us. You could probably kite on a McDonalds tray if you glued some shoes to it.
  5. I made a skim board from a sheet of ply, It had been left out in the rain against a wall so had a curve in it. I spent 30 minutes with a pencil and jigsaw to get the shape right(ish) and 5 minute putting surf wax on the top deck. It works a treat especially in lighter winds. The board is an egg shaped oval about 110cm long and 50cm at the widest point. took about hour to make and didnt cost anything.
  6. got a 2002 8.4 airblast (12m flat), its been patched a few times but ive had no problems with it. £300 and it yours, ive also got an old board which need some fibre glassing work if you need a very cheap first board. Andy 07745467246
  7. Trying to get your board on in waves is hard work the best way I found is to be as quick as you can, so get your feet close to the straps and power the kite up, this pulls you into the footstraps and up and away. getting you out of the surf. If your still learning to water start try body dragging out behind the surf or stay shallow and try to time it between the swells or find a beach without large surf.
  8. forgot to add I started on a 4.9 blade 1 with two line on a broom stick handle. excellent fun. but close to the shoreline
  9. nothing wrong with using blades on the water if your willing to lose them as they sink. Which means they then pick up the current/rip and of you go. If you confident enough to keep them up and dont go out very deep you should be allright. would be safer to get a LEI though. have fun and stay safe
  10. I used ti kite surf with a 4.9 blade. You need to get used to the kite and how the power comes in and you also need to realise that foil kites sink n water and then will pull like buggery with the current. so only fly 30m of the beach on a on shore wind unless your wlling to lose the kite if you ditch it. but it can be done. Andy
