  1. My lad is really light too. If it looks like its going to be hard for him to bodydrag back to his board after a big wipeout i just pick it up and drop it a bit downwind of him same as i would with any novice. Kitesurfing has enough risks already so important will not add to them by giving him a leash. Riding alongside your kid at 9 years old is a better feeling than nailing any move. I love it.
  2. 5m slingshot turbo 2. Couple of small pro repairs to canopy. Bladder all fine. One pump. Connector to bung of inflate valve broken but held in place with the vecro. Pics available. Used by junior rider from 10knots and by me up to 40. Kite only. £130 plus postage £5 with parcelmonkey.
  3. Electrical insulating tape works well
  4. Loving it! Did Sea Palling on Sunday. Waves over head height for the boy! Hope to do some flat water again at Hunny on Saturday if the forecast holds. He is keen to try his new low wind kite again...6m Naish Park!
  5. Pm'd you can
  6. If you add together the size of your hook and a chicken loop under tension you may well find (as I did) that ther is no ability to sheet out at all as short arms fully extended only reach the position of max power. Solution is to find a tiny chicken loop (never found one) or adapt so everything moves closer to the body. I used a cabrinha bar and did away with the chicken loop so safety release is straight onto hook. this is great and safety works well but obviously will not be possible when he starts unhooking later in the year.
  7. Agree about the harness. We are on 3.5m convert and 6 m park for light winds!
  8. Why not borrow a set of lines for an hour, use them as extensions on your existing lines for a bit. Then you can give them back, save your money having realised how horrible 40m lines are to fly with.
  9. Mine did a couple of years on fb just getting confident being dragged around and controlling kite on bar. Made transition to LEI much easier. Need to reduce size of chicken loop or small arms wont be able to sheet out effectively on lei. Quite easy to pick up a small board cheap on ebay, and really good wetsuit is a good investment Know what you mean about brownie points. Certainly easier getting to the beach for the day and now we can ride together its a big bonus!
  10. Got my 9 year old riding this summer. Just noticed a 3m waroo on ebay at the moment. Would be great for kids. Nothing at all to do with me but I know how hard it is to find suitable gear. Am happy to advise on solutions to problems of getting kids riding. Watching your kid getting the stoke is almost as good as doing it yourself!
  11. As they say: Those who cant do, teach. I think you mean "Those that can, do. Those that can't do, teach. And those that can't teach become Ofsted inspectors"
  12. Do you think people may be trying to avoid you? You do seem to have a bit of a reputation.....
  13. Book a lesson at your nearest kiteschool and see what they recommend. No LEI is bombproof and all will try to kill you if you don't learn deepwater packdowns etc.
  14. I have an11m Bandit 1 and 7m Bandit dos. They both perform well, boost high and have loads of low end power. Personally i would save your money and buy a couple of dos rather than 4 or 5's. I think I saw a 9m dos for sale in Hunstanton Watersports yesterday. I am 11stone and 7m amd 11m are fine. You are right that the 9 and 12 would be ok at your weight.
  15. I know that clam cleats chew up the trim rope and make them furry. Mine won't stay on full depower anymore and slips right out to max. Has anyone tried cleaning up the rope cutting off straggly bits? Does this weaken the rope too much? Anyone had one of these ropes break as they seem pretty over engineered for the job? Cheers
  16. Dahkla is pretty good.
  17. What are you doing that causes wear and tear around the arse of your wetsuit? I use my wetsuit for kitesurfing where the only wear it gets is when getting it on and off. Water doesn't cause much damage. Or are you like Andrew and get dragged down the beach? Shorts over suit is purely for those who care about some image they are trying to project.
  18. Check if RM standard parcels would accept a package that big. I'm sure they have a size limit. if so then there's something fishy. I lost a small package through rm, sent claim form with receipts from ebay sale and from post office to rm in Glasgow. Never even got a reply. Good luck.
  19. PM sent
  20. Yes, sounds right. At least with extensions it's easy to tweak if not quite right by putting extra knots in the leaders .
  21. This is not right. The Bandit1 has really long bridles and so the centre lines are much shorter than the back lines. Have you replaced all the lines? Is it an f-one bar or another make? You should be able to use your old lines as templates.
  22. Thanks, he had a great day. Actually Toby is 9 but still doing well for a little un. I love watching him fly, but means less time on the water for me!! Still won't be long before he's teaching me stuff I'm sure. Big thanks to Steve and the guys at Hunstanton Watersports for their support.
  23. Mostly good advice but don't get Novas just because they are cheap. Mick loves them but they struggle upwind and don't jump well at all compared to others. You will be forever on the forum asking advice on how to go upwind, how to jump etc
  24. Why not just cut the line below the knot. resleeve the line and add a longer pigtail to fit what you cut off. Leave all other lines as they are. Job done.
  25. If you got a c in between the two you would have a 16,13, 11 quiver. I guess if you are weighing in around 16-18 stone that would be ok. If you are smaller then I would suggest your 11m is not set up right . Good rule of thumb is that biggest kite size approx the same as your weight in stone. Anything bigger overpowers you too quick and will be slower than you need.
