  1. I would recommend a seat harness for learning. Whwn you start off kite is near 12 more so pulling upwards. Waist harness more likely to ride up and be uncomfortable. When you start on the water you will ride in the poo stance, again kite is pulling harness upwards. When your riding style improves you will lose the poo stance and lay back more with your hips forward. Kite is now pulling away from harness so both seat or waist harness can be used. Hope that helps
  2. Still available
  3. Atan Boots size T 00 which is uk 2-3. As new condition only used a handful of times. Kids grow too quick so need next size up this year!! New £48. Only £35 inc uk postage or £30 if collected at local beach!
  4. When you are in waves you need to be ready to release everything quickly. Most wave riders release the kite as soon as problems arise. Similarly you dont want to be attatched to a board in the washing machine, especially if you are still attatched to the kite. Tangling leash, lines , limbs etc in the middle of a wave is potentially going to cause more damage to you than the ping back and slash your head of a twin tip
  5. Stormsure is always the answer. Fixes bladders, kites, wetsuits, bars, horse rugs etc etc. Store it in the freezer once opened and will last for ages.
  6. I have taught my boy to kitesurf. He had same problem. I had a cabrinha bar where the safety just left the chicken loop on the hook and released everything else. I just attatched the safety release direct to his hook and left the chicken loop out. That way he had full safety release still but the length of the chicken loop was removed (about 5 inches). Gave the same amount of bar throw but made it all reachable for short arms. He is 10. Now he is competent have gone back to chicken loop as he is now unhooking. Happy to offer any advice from my own experience. You also need small kites. Toby is 5 stone and uses kite size exactly half of whatever I am on. Lucky kid can fly in next to no wind if he goes on my 11m! If the kite will get in the air he can go upwind. Makes everyone jealous on those days when we are all sitting waiting for "just a few more knots"!
  7. Thanks for that peet. Will keep an eye on the forum.
  8. Cool. What event do you suggest he enters? (Sadly Scottish Windfest is just too far for us to travel)
  9. So it looks like we have a handful of under 16s around the country. (I live in Norfolk so a handful is six!)Not great for a sport that has aspirations to become an olympic event. I think I will have to get a few people together and try to push forward with some ideas for youth development. Fortunately we have great facilities to launch this from.
  10. Shame the wind didn't come. Toby had a great couple of hours on a lagoon later on but he only weighs 5 stone and was on an 11m Bandit!!
  11. Branny can be awesome but please make sure you read the signs showing the set up areas and out of bounds section. No kiting east of a line from the golf club to the wreck. Enjoy. Might come down myself if any wind shows up
  12. You are right there. However I think it is going to be more straightforward to find public liability insurance than is to find any junior riders. At the moment I am having more success setting up unicorn racing! I was hoping for lots of replies telling me about all the young riders that have been seen on the beaches round the uk.........still waiting!
  13. Think I neef to find out if there is a demand first. Not exactly inundated with replies from young riders. After being posted for a day on here and kiteboarder have only had one reply from a lad. I hope there are more youngsters out there but this does not bode well
  14. That would be ok if there were some bksa junior competitions. Can't find any results for juniors at Barrow in July. Don't think there was a junior event. Only other event is Scottish windfest which is just too far away for us. Perhaps the lackof events is due to the fact that there are very few young riders out there. I hope I am wrong.
  15. My son is progressing well and wanting to start competing. Sadly finding any events in England seems pretty impossible so considering creating an event for young riders (under 16) to get together for a some friendly competition. (Yes I know that will be a huge amount of work but I guess someone has to step up).I think the emphasis would be on making an event for all levels as I know that my own son is both inspired by what he sees by a few well known juniors but also feels he is too far below their level to compete. I think the base level would be the ability to stay upwind competently so although a trick competion element would be included I think there would be various more basic and fun events for all to enjoy. My question is this: Are there many under 16 riders out there? The evidence I see on the beaches of the east coast is pretty sparse. Also would young reiders be interested in being at such an event? My lad is 10 and rides on Norfolk coast. Starting to land backrolls. Who else is out there?.........
  16. My prolimit wetsuit did exactly the same. Kept fixing it with stormsure but eventually just cut the arms and legs off and now use it as my summer shortt. Lots ofholes for ccooling off. Would never buy one again. Oneil for me with lovely stretchy neoprene.
  17. Thanks for the help. Will look for some 3.5mm. Good idea with the old line inside. Did similar when replaced depower rope.
  18. Need to replace bridle line on bandit where pulleys have worn it. This is also same line used for mini 5th line safety through the bar. Can anyone tell me what this is called so I can order a few metres of it? Fairly sure its used on most bridled kites where pulleys run. Not going to order from f-one as I already have a mortgage. Going to make up myself. Thanks
  19. If they are new just go back to the shop you bought them from and get them to check the setup. Most kite shops look after their customers pretty well.
  20. Mine stays bone dry. I leave it in the car. Why do you want to take it kitesurfing? You cant get it out when you are on the water so whats the point.
  21. You must have been at old town I guess? We were at Heacham and had a great couple of days.
  22. Is it still old Hunstanton 10am?
  23. Forecast is offshore. If we demo the gear will we be picked up by the CBK safety boat even if we are not CBK members?
  24. Your choice is between flying a new kite with a 100% compatible new bar with line lengths set at factory or flying with an old bar that MIGHT work. No brainer. Why would you risk that first launch hoping that all was adjusted ok? Just get practicing pulling the safety on your new bar
