  1. Knew there would be another shop selling blades at a good price. But I was meaning in general. If you didn't shop around enough, you'd be paying £349 blade and about £35ish for lines, well all my local shops would have. Still I'm getting mine for £280, so I'm pleased:)
  2. I'm never lucky on eBay, unless it's a 'buy it now' sell. Would have gone for more if I'd placed a bid. Anyway £80 between a new blade and a secondhand one is ok by me. Most other shops, I would have been looking at £380ish including lines.
  3. Hi Adrenal1n, Did you go flying on Saturday? Went to the common at 10:30 and stayed around there for 1.5 hours. Didn't see any kites though Ended up ordering a 4.9m Blade II for £280

    Air time

I think the Viper is designed more for pulling than lifting. Having said that both Fox 2 and Adrenal1n owe Vipers and have been lifted off the ground. Look at my thread "5m Viper or 4.9m Blade II?". There were a couple of other threads where they've meantioned about getting air.
  5. Adrenal1n, what time in the morning are you likely to be at the common?
  6. Perhaps you can throw it back at them, for driving around the common in golf buggies Last Friday I was there flying the kite (or was it wrestling with it). One of the rangers in his buggy drove underneigh the kites area of flight and forwards me. Thought we're were going to be ask to stop flying. But nope, just smiled, drove past and joined the path behind me. Why he couldn't join the path without travelling under the kite, I don't know...
  7. Do mountain boards require the same amount of space as a buggy? Or can you have just as much fun in a smaller area?
  8. Thanks for offer Adrenal1n. Unfortunatey, I've been suffering all this week from a bad back helped along by kiting and mountain biking (but not the root cause). So this weekend I've got to take it easy:( Already had to cancel mountain biking. Shame, cos I was looking forward to trying the brake lines on my symph. After reading another recent thread about vipers. I'm warming to the idea of that cheap Viper Adenal1n, if you do go down to southsea common, let me know. If my back's up to it, I'll walk down to the common to see it fly. If your going to Hayling, maybe another time, my back hates my car so I'm not going to use it this weekend.. Cheers,
  9. My Goal? I guess I'm looking a good all rounder. The only thing I'm not really interested in is jumping. At the moment my symph 3.3 is keeping me amused, but I can see in a couple of mouths, I'll eventually be wanting a bigger kite and maybe a buggy or mountain board. It's just at the moment there's an oppertunity to buy a 5m Viper for £200 or get 20% off a Blade 4m (£248) or 4.9m (£280). I thought I'd buy it now a start flying it when I'm brave enough What I was trying to gauge is, would I be scudding (buggying or boarding) along the beach with the 5m Viper, wishing I'd used that £200 to get a Blade II 4m or 4.9m? Maybe, the Blade II's will drop below 20% when the Blade III comes out! Not sure how likely that is, considering Blade II's are quite popular.
  10. Cheers pauljarvis, How about power kiting without a traction device at Wittering? I'm new to this game, is insurance required for all forms of kiting or just those using a traction device? Also, where do you go to get memberhip for Witterings from? (2XS, Shore watersports...)
  11. Yes it was Roy at Kites Up in Basingstoke. I was there getting the brake line kit for my symph. He happen to mention it then. I must have ignored it on his web site or thought he must have got rid of them. It seems Blade II's are still recomended. What with the viper offer and the shop that Fox 2 keeps pluging, I feel I should seize the oppertunity on one of them. Fox 2, I looked at their web site and I couldn't see where it said about lines being included with the Blade II. Also, What size Blade is best? As I live near the coast, that's where I'll be playing mostly. Usually, finding a decent wind isn't a problem, so would I find a 4.9 Blade too much of a handful? Maybe a 4 Blade would be more used... Only reason why I singled the 4.9 Blade was: It was compareable size to the 5m viper being offered It's the smallest size Blade that can fit the VPS bar, what ever that offers. I always like a product which allows you to build upon.
  12. hmmm, the place where I brought my Symph from, said he'd heard rumours of Wittering banning buggying. Are they banning all forms of kiting or just buggys and MTBs? Shame, the only two places I've seen buggys were at West Wittering and Southsea Common. That was last year and I think Southsea Common maybe a bit too short for anything decent. Also like the guvnor said it can get busy, well it did briefly a couple of times last Friday. It's amazing how people can watch you being dragged around by a kite and then proceed to walk directly under the kites area of flight, but that's getting off the topic. So we got: West Wittering - banned Southsea Common - limiting (maybe early in morning) Gosport Port Solent Any other places?
  13. Hi, I've found a place that is getting rid of a new 5m Viper for £200 lines included. I'm just starting out in kiting and currently getting use to the power from a symphony 3.3. Due to the Blade II's popularity on this forum and others. I've always considered my next kite would be a Blade II , maybe 4.9 metre. I'm pretty tempted by this kite at the this price. But I don't know much about the Viper, apart from being one down from the Blade II in the catalogue. Chances are I will be buggying at some point, so: What is the 5m Viper like (power/handling)? How does it compare it a 4.9m Blade II? Sould I save my £200 and put it towards a 4.9m Blade II when I'm ready for a bigger kite? Cheers,
  14. Hi, My friends and I are considering getting into buggying. But, before we get a buggy can anyone recommend areas in and around the Portsmouth area, where buggying is permitted? So far, Southsea common and Wittering beach seem good places. Is buggying allowed there? There must be more areas. Cheers,
