Bought a Keo Flyer which has been good to learn on, but I will say is a tad heavy. Have tried the Air-S which didn't really make much of an impression either - maybe it's cos' I'm close to 15 stone?
The straps, sorry bindings, arrh, no, right the first time, straps on all Keo boards are a bit crap (IMO)
Wish I'd spent more money the first time around. Probably going to go something like a MBS Comp 16 Pro next.
I do think you pay for what you get.
I agree - Why are people still doing this?
Please stop....stop, stop.......please, stop....

I'll give you my Blade or my Frenzy if you always delete these type of posts!
Yes, Kite Killers are great when you need them, but a pain otherwise as they get in the way (esp. boarding). I know many people who feel the same way.
The only when the winds blowing hard or there's risk from "people", will I use KK. Otherwise they stay in my bag, together with my body armour (I do always use a helmet)
It's very easy to make judgement after the event. Maybe in future I'll "move the line" a little when weighing up the risks over the disadvantages of using KK.
If you want to avoid all risks, don't take your kites out of the bag.
Top site full of useful info.
If your looking for another project, how about a tutorial on turning.
i.e. Being able to turn rather than stop and then head the opposite direction.
Or should I say, how to make fluid turns
My understanding is:
SKATE = Light
CHANNEL = Strong
(This is fairly obvious when you look at them side by side)
So, do you want light or strong?
Skate probably aren't a problem if you're not that heavy (i.e. haven't discovered beer and pies yet) or you don't intend to abuse the board (get some air)
Think most people would like "light and strong", but until someone discovers better materials, we're stuffed!
Is it me or does anyone else think these "polls" are pointless?
I have had a go with Dainese stuff and it is LOVELY too, just....erm...welllll... it looks a little "gay stormtrooper" in the greyish white
There's nothing "gay" about the Dainese body armour
Going, going, sold.....£440 for a '03 7.3m Frenzy!

Accidentally pressed the buy button and have one on it's way.
Hope I haven't made the wrong decision, but with a £200 saving on an '04 model, I just couldn't resist!
>> Are you sure to have a 3.5 Little Devil
Must have been a 3 then. Wasn't my kite - It looked a lot smaller than my 4.9 Blade, so had a go!
Does anyone know if the Bristol Kite shop does kite repairs? Tore one of the bridles off my Blade after one of the a handle failed (the rope pulled through the handle) :-(
I work with Monkeyboy for my sins :-)
I shall find out when the next meet is and come along :-)
>> ST, if you wanna have a go on a LOAD of different kites...
Yes, I'll have to do that. My mate (stonemonkey) pointed me in the direction of SWAT.
Where are you guys flying in Ashton Court? On the top of the hill by the Golf course? I live in Montpelier but can't say I've seen many people flying in Ashton Court? Maybe I'm just not getting out enough !!!

I do hate asking for advice on what kite to get. It sometimes turn into a my kite is best, but I do need a new kite and I do need advice!
Well was out on the weekend and have come to the conclusion that I need a new kite :-)
I was flying fine in 15 mph winds with my 4.9 Blade2 but then the wind picked up to about 22mph (average) and it was a bit much for me. I borrowed a 3.5m Little Devil which seemed around the right size but doesn't give any lift.
I seem to find that if there's not enough wind to get going with the 4.9 Blade, then it's not worth bothering flying.
I've been thinking of either getting a 3m Blade3 or maybe a Frenzy 7.3. Does the Frenzy depower enough to be usable in 20mph winds? i.e. Would this kite cover the range of eqiv 3m-4.9 Blade2/3?
I've also been told that the Blade3's don't give as much lift as the Blade2's, but are much faster (more like a Razor)
Please take into account that I feel overwhelmed with the 4.9 in 20+mph winds where *others* are happily flying with 6.6 Blades!
I'm fairly happy with using the kite and the board, and would like to start trying to get a little air - or should I say, getting a little *planned* air!
Cheers
Simon
>> personally i think the full jacket is a bit pricey and overkill but if you wanna spend that much cash..!!
Bought a Daines Safety Jacket for £200 from a shop in Bristol.
Best £200 I've ever spent. Very comfortable - can't really notice it's there. You can use it for lots of sports MTB, ATB or even Snowboarding/Skiing in the winter. Haven't fallen yet, but to be honest, I hope I'll never need it.
Kites are £300 (and up) each, and most people seem to have rather a large collection.
I pulled my back over doing it, on a rowing machine about 6 months ago. It cost me more than £200 in treatment.
I don't understand why are people so worried about spending £200 on protection?
