  1. Finally had a fly on the new P4 on Monday. Very pleased. Got a few thoughts, though - wondering if anyone agrees??? I reckon the only major change is in the depower. It's clear that there is massively more depower in the bar movement - older flysurfers had decent depower using the strap, but pulling the bar in never made much difference. With this new one pulling the bar in made loads of difference - so much so it's going to take a bit of getting used to. I'm glad I have upgraded - it'll make the gusty high wind days much less nerve-wracking -, but there's a bit of me that's a bit dissapointed too. Getting good jumps, etc, used to be all about timing. Now it seems to be a simple matter of pulling the bar in. Somehow it feels like everything's got a bit easy! Anyway, having been out a bit underpowerd today on the 10m P3 I'm surer than ever that the other half of my quiver from the 8m p4 needs to be a 12m Speed. So, any offers or price thoughts on the other flysurfers? Thanks. Charlie
  2. Hi again folks. Any thoughts on prices for those three I have (or will soon have) for sale? Speed1 10m - well used, Psycho3 10m - great nick, Extacy 7m - great nick. I've no idea, as I haven't even thought about buying a new kite for over two years. I don't want to rip anyone off and am keen on a quick sale, but don't want to rip myself off either. Thanks for any suggestions. (Or offers!). Charlie
  3. Hi Tom. 8m P3 arrived on Monday as expected. Wish the wind would come round out of the South so I can get out on it this weekend. Incidentally, do you know where I can download instructions. I'm sure I won't need them, but nice to know where to go if I need to (and I'd quite like to have a read while waiting for the wind). Charlie
  4. Doh. It's a P4, not P3. And yes, it's 'new to me'. (The extacy's the only kite I've ever bought new). Looking to get a Speed 3 for similar reasons - if they're bringing out a Speed4 then hopefully people will be selling on their S3s. Thanks
  5. So I've gone ahead and got a new 8m P3, meaning I have a 7m extacy for sale. Anyone from here want it - looking for a quick sale so I'd be open to all offers. Or thoughts on where to sell it? There used to be flysurfers on ebay all the time, but haven't been for a while (maybe everyone's realised they're great and never die, so are keeping hold of them!). I'll also have a 10m p2 and a 10m Speed1 for sale fairly soon. Pm me if interested, or email weejock100atyahoo.com Thanks Charlie
  6. Thanks Balugh. Have you ever successfuly 'flagged out' in a real over-wind situation? I've tried it a few times on the beach in practice but never once actually done it on the beach, in at least 2 years of flying the P2.
  7. Actually, one more question. The other thing I don't like about the P2 10m is the extra line(s) - there are 4 lines out of the bar, instead of 3 for earlier FS models. I guess it might be considered a safety feature - I just think of it as a fankle-feature - but does anyone know if newer FS models have kept this? (PS For anyone reading this later and debating LEIs vs foils. Despite what I say above, fankles are really not a big deal with flysurfers - 9 out of 10 times they fly straight out of the bag - but they are irritating when they happen. )
  8. Thanks all. Nice to have my vague feelings confirmed. I'm definitely going to try and get a slightly bigger replacement for the 10m P3. Possibly the 12m Speed2, or a 12m Speed 3 if I can afford it - maybe once the 12m Speed4's come out. (Tone, I'm more beanpole than tub.) That'll be the light- and normal-wind kite. Then I'll think about getting a 7-8m psycho too. Benjy A, if you're determined to have an lei and a foil then I'd definitely go for the big foil and small lei. But I NEVER seperate my bar and lines - seems a recipe for fankles, and it would defeat the main point of foils which for me is the super-easy lay out and pack in. (Assuming, always, no fankles!). Btw, 2nd hand flysurfers are well worth the money - they're brilliantly made.
  9. Hi All, I haven't been on here since the switchover, so apologies if this has been gone over in depth before. Can anyone who has experience of several flysurfer kites please try to sumarise the different sizes. Preferably including the older models, as I always buy my flysurfers 2nd hand. I used to think a FS of x metres was at least equivalent to an LEI of 2m less. This worked for my old 10m Speed, which was easily equivalent to a 13m LEI. But my newer 10m PIII has much less grunt. Still a great kite, but it actually seems to have loads of overlap with my 7m Extacy, which wasn't the case at all for the old 10mSpeed. Any thoughts? Are the newer Flysurfers slightly less grunty per m than the older ones? Was the Speed just an exception? There's a 12m Speed II on ebay which I'm tempted to get to replace the PIII. (I want to stick with 2 kites. The 10m PIII would be a perfect single-kite quiver, but not good as a low-wind option when I also own a high-wind option). Incidentally, I still have my original 10m Speed 1 but I never use it now. If anyone wants to make an offer please do (it's well used).
  10. Does anyone have idea on whether this will be more or less powerful than a 10m Speed (one). Current two kite quiver of 10m Speed with 7m Extacy works well up here in Scotland, but I'm debating whether to get a 10m PIII or 13m PIII given the increased wind range... opinions? (THe speed will go in any case - my car's tiny). Thanks. And have a bump KeyRB
  11. Still for sale? What are you after? pm me if you don't want to post a price. Anyone else welcome to give their opinions..
  12. Did you sell that PIII flysurfer? How's it compare to a Speed (1) 10m - in terms of grunt, not so much flying characteristics. (I want to keep my two kite quiver; currently 10m Speed and 7m extacy - I wouldn't want to go for anything with less grunt than the speed.)
  13. Going to Jamaica for a fortnight at the beginning of Feb. Any suggestions on good beaches, other kiters, kite size, rules etc? We're staying in the NorthWest I think. Somewhere around Montego Bay. C
  14. Can happily vouch for and bump DJStrous. I got my Speed 10 off him not too long ago in perfect nick and for a great price. If he says it's in good nick then it will be; and if the Speed2 is anything like the Speed1 it must be an awesome kite. I dread to think how much of your cash must go on new kites you then sell on sharpish DJ. But keep it up - it means there's a supply of cut price nearly-new flysurfers that I'm quite happy to take advantage of.
  15. Any suggestions on where to get my Speed 10m repaired? I managed to get it (and me at one point!) stuck in a shore dump and rip at a couple of attachement points (some of those clever little attachers broke as per design, but not all). I taped it and have flown it quite a bit but now I'm back in the UK I figure I should get it fixed properly. Ideally SE Scotland or London so I can take it in myself, but could post I guess. Ta Charlie
