Right then my first review..
I brought this kite second hand for peanuts at my local kite shop with the intention of learning how to fly a de-power kite and gain a bit more lift and float for some freestyle kiteboarding (the land type!).
My first thought after pumping the damn thing up was its immense size, i thought my PL Twister was big at 7.7m2 but this was on another level completely. Then again this is an LEI so the two are completely different in every way!
After a quick lesson from another kiter also using a surf kite i was away! Once i had got to grips with understanding the basics of the de-power i noticed that its so much easier to fly than most other foils I've flown, it turns very fast and is extremely agile for a kite of its size! The de-power was definitely there, although i don't like the fact there is no pressure on the bar when it is being moved back and forth.
Several times when not paying any attention as to what i was doing i would end up getting dragged as i was holding the bar in 'full power' mode. After a while of static flying i was confident to strap on my flexifoil tracker and go for a blast up and down the disused airfield. The kite produced loads of power even in the sparrows fart of a breeze and was able to do plenty of runs both up and downwind. The kite still produced loads of power in winds too light to keep a best waroo 9m2 flying. As for lift there was loads and plenty of float!! I was very impressed about the amount of control that was able to be had when 'in flight' and i always had a nice landing. unfortunately i now have a useless left hand/arm for 8 weeks as i flew this kite with a broken radius (in a c a s t) and then tripped over whilst flying unhooked i have now also fractured my scaphoid in my wrist it kinda serves me right (hence me writing on here!)
Hope the review was of use to someone out there
Sam!
