  1. In Scotland it's been the year of over optimistic XC forecasts. Whatever XC says it's at least 10 knots less. Skunked so many times in the past 6 months.
  2. How do you know when you're being secretly followed? I thought when someone tried to follow it asked you first? Is there a Facebook dark side?
  3. No excuses for not learning tricks with an edge. It's got that much float you've got hours to get the landing right.
  4. Mick, these threads get a lot of eyes on them (over 1,300 views already). I think a lot of the people reading do so in a 'how do I avoid this happening to me' capacity, as well as offering their support after a tragic situation. None of the posts are in the remotest bit critical of Sean, everyone has been very respectful.
  5. From the 2 close call situations I've been involved in (in 6 years of kiting), I would say have a plan C, plan D in mind before things go wrong. It's all well and good checking your kit, safety etc but what if they don't work as intended? Both times I found myself wondering what else to do while getting dragged through & under water. What to do if a release fails, both releases fail etc.. Can you get a clip undone while being pulled hard? Can you reach a front line to disable the kite (etc etc).
  6. Horrible news to hear It's surprisingly easy to get a line wrapped or a bridle issue that ends up with a looping kite. Happened to me recently (luckily a big slow kite in light wind). Line wrapped after a crash, released kite then realized I still had my leash on suicide. Leash safety jammed, couldn't see it underwater, managed to undo the clip instead. On a different day that could have been a lot worse.
  7. Had a good 90 mins at our local near Edinburgh. Squalls were brutal though, too much for my 7m c4 in the end..
  8. Helmet is handy for gopro. Mount doesn't stick to your head very well.
  9. Experience Andy It's fine when it's cold, but in Egypt it was a nightmare. Kept getting wrapped around my depower line. I only use above the bar depower now.
  10. Why do you want a big nob when you're kitesurfing? It just adds extra drag.
  11. 2 very different days this weekend, both on 7m c4.. 25 -30 mph Saturday 20 - 50 mph Sunday
  12. That's still pretty damn hardcore even with a parachute!
  13. Good sesh at Watergate bay today. Nice to kite with some different conditions and scenery. Amazing backdrop surrounded by cliffs on both sides. Took quick snap with my iPhone after I finished up. https://m.flickr.com/photos/58521900@N07/14880230825/
  14. Am in Cornwall on holidays but luckily brought my 7m along with me Any recommendations on where to go to make the best of it!?
  15. I've got the 2013 13m Edge and it pulls like a truck. Great for boosting when it gets to 20 knots! Harness always ends up under my ribcage cos it never stops pulling. That doesn't happen with my other kites (c4's). I tried the 2012 and it didn't feel much different to me. But the older 7 strut edges were very different.
