  1. went for a couple of days last summer whilst on holiday with the better half. She was quite happy sat under the big awning the kite school have on the beach reading a book and taking photos. The shack does decent BBQ etc so she didn't starve. Other than that there isn't much to do unless you take the water taxi to the village itself. Cool place worth a trip.
  2. Have had some lessons in Tenerife and Tarifa, would perhaps recommend Tenerife as there are a fair few good bars along the seafront of the main kite beach for the significant other to sit and laugh at you (well thats what mine did). Be wary of leaving significant other on windy, sandy, hot beach as apparently sunblock and sand aren't appreciated.
  3. For sale one Peter Lynn Venom 16m, Few years old but in good nick. Original spa's. Sold k/o as I'm keeping my other PL kite. £200 ono Perfect summer wind (if it ever appears) kite, Owen
  4. only been in november, wind was fairly light. whatever you do remember boots though, lots of coral cut my feet to shreds
  5. When I started I had a similar problem of being swung around whilst fiddling with the board. If its taking you more than a few seconds to get the thing on your feet maybe loosening the straps to speed the process up will help. As to starting when you dive the kite extend your front leg and push up with your back one. As has been said lessons good idea. It does just suddenly click and the problem seems to evaporate.
  6. Surely we have our cheap kite brands anyway? Thought it was called ebay? New kites are so well put together that when people grow out of them/ get bored/ go broke/ need new colours to match their board shorts, they flog them and buy new gear? Personally I would rather that things worked this way than have kites with poor R&D and dodgy design cluttering up the news as people push them beyond their tolerances and they fall apart. I would doubt that prices will ever come down significantly but at least fewer brands would make my head hurt less when thinking of upgrading.
  7. Currently looking for new kite and proper shop to go to and test etc would be fantastic, just think majority of people would do that and then go try and find same product for less online. If memory serves the shop in Swansea used to do that but changed hands and is now owned by a surfer and not a kiter.
  8. I'm in serre skiing that week and was thinking of taking some gear on the off chance. Be interesting to see how many people turn up. Question, better take my vortex 10 or my 16m venom?
  9. Take a lesson, talk to the instructor. Depends on weight, ability, location. Not on whoever happens to have some old gear to flog.
  10. nai-yang and chalong were both kiteable when i was there last november, not a huge amount of wind but fun. oh and take some boots, my feet got shredded...
  11. Tarifa is kite mad; gets a little chaotic in high season but there was more than enough room last time I was there. Valdevaqueros is pretty fun too.
  12. Understand that i might get the piss taken for this being my first post.... People see kitesurfers tanking it around not wearing helmets and think that it can't be that dangerous if people with over a grands worth of kit don't spend a few quid on a lid..... Started out landboarding and everyone wears them, thus the public get the impression it may hurt a little if you don't know what your are doing not a very fashionable comment i know
