1. see link thanks Ozone R1 Foil Kite And Ozone Race Bar - Unique Volvo Logo | eBay
2. North Vegas 2014 in brilliant condition. One small tear of about 1.5 inches which has been repaired with kite fix and been fine for over a year. Otherwise kite is really good. Looking to get something less freestyle orientated for my hydrofoil. Looking for 400 quid plus 15 for postage
3. Sorry - I didn't take any footage initially but there is the odd crash on the video clips above. I do have a large bruise on my back from hitting the water at high speed and my harness battering me though! The difficulty initially was manoeuvring board around to get feet in right place to start. I was trying to lean board over onto its side but it's difficult to do that with the foil causing resistance. So in the end I found it easier to lie on my back and get my front foot into the strap and then kept the back foot out. I also had trouble keeping at a constant height but you do just get the feel for it and shift you weight accordingly. A little weight on the back foot gets the board onto the foil and then shift back and keep weight on front foot. If the board drops shift weight back again but it's very minor adjustments. It's been worth the pain though - it's a great feeling when you're hammering along without making a sound! Thanks
4. I thought I'd share my experiences of the Alpinefoil access 5.0 Hydrofoil. I purchased this in the winter and although I haven't been able to get out on it much. In the last couple of weeks the wind has been a bit more favourable. The foil itself is stunning - the craftsmanship is excellent and it is the nicest aluminium foil I've seen and comes with carbon wings. It's taken me 5 sessions to get the hang of it so in less than 10 hours I'm up on the foil and able to ride downwind and upwind pretty consistently. Foil is really fast, stable responsive and smooth. I didn't want to get a beginner foil incase I outgrew it (I spoke to a fellow foiler who bought a Sroka foil which he loves, but he was already looking to upgrade as he felt he'd reached it's limits.) It came with a larger front wing but if and when I feel I want to change things I can just purchase a new wing rather than the whole foil. Next objective is tacking/Gybing! See videos below Cheers
5. Yes, more of a high tide option, we have a deep channel off Exmouth seafront though so it gets deep quite quickly. I'll update once I've tried it out cheers
6. Having watched several locals gliding effortlessly above the water on their hydrofoils I've finally saved up enough to join the hydrofoil band wagon. I did quite a bit of research before purchasing and finally plugged for the alpinefoil access 5.0. I ordered direct from alpinefoil in France and the service was excellent. My hydrofoil was ordered on the Wednesday and arrived in the uk and with me in the Friday. Why did I chose this foil? Well, ideally I would have gone for a full carbon foil but these are generally over £1500 for the likes of taaroa sword or levitaz so out of my price range. The cheaper aluminium foils such as sroka or liquid force appear to have a more beginner orientated setup with either a shorter mast or much deeper width wings. I didn't want to buy one of these and then outgrow and wish I'd gone more advanced in the first place and had a slightly harder learning curve. So I went for the alpine foil as although it's an aluminium mast, it's got carbon foils and the design looks much closer to the high end foils which are way more expensive. I'm also able to upgrade individual parts and buy different wings if I want to at a later stage. This also seemed to hit the price point I was happy with and I purchased an fbox which I've had inserted into my old north nugget. The quality of the product is fantastic and it looks stunning. Now the fun begins with learning to ride it!
