  1. Hi There, do you still have it for sale? I think Imay have contacted you already for this on another site, so apologies for that, Regards Pete 07799605617
  2. The BPKA insurance isn't worth the paper its written on, its simply a paperwork exercise as a sort of flag waving to say "i've got insurance". Its fairly safe to say making a claim would be a nightmare if not impossible. Furthermore the £10m liablility is split into Zurich for the upper 5m and Alliance for the lower £5m this means a £6m claim will be split as two claims from two underwriters so good luck! So it short the insurance is a non entity, you're leaving yourself wide open. If someone actually makes a big claim, everyone else is uninsured thereafter as its one event one payout. So if an accident happens at an event and the event continues and there is another accident the second accident will not be covered if the first accident causes a payout, so not only are you totally exposed, you don't actually know that your totally exposed until some time after the event, when you could be being sued. One word summarises this type of insurance : worthless. Its actually a waste of £10.50. You would be better off buying 10 lottery tickets, at least that has a chance of paying out. I am personally working with a a professional group of underwriters to get us all some insurance that covers all activities at almost any conceivable venue. I hope to have it ready for everyone to inspect and comment on fairly soon. Regards Pete
  3. I don't understand where this has come from, this is at odds with what everyone else found on previous occasions and with what you said on the day, and the flying area was very extensive far more than the horse. Finally on that day you know we had to stay in the infield by the start line as the cyclists were on the track. But even that area was large. You seem to have overlooked the fact we have the whole circuit usually. I think the pictures tell a different story http://http://wiki.windywoos.com/index.php/File:Castlecombe2.jpg http://http://wiki.windywoos.com/index.php/File:Landboarding.jpg http://http://wiki.windywoos.com/index.php/File:Castlecombe3.jpg Judge for yourself. and of course, I didn't force you to come along.... :D:D
  4. What have you done mate, I have had three ops on my shoulders following a skiing accident, had a decompression and cuff repair once on the left and twice on the right. I have Stephen Copeland at the reading shoulder unit do the left, I had it done august 30th 2006 and got back in the gym doing proper weights on it by mid November. You don't need to be out 6months with the right procedure and physio. (1 screw to fix) The right shoulder I had done by Andrew wallace in London, I had a 2cm cuff tear which took 4 screws to fix, had it done in nov 2007 and was back inthe gym mid January and back flying beginning of feb 2008. IMHO the physio is the key to a fast recovery.... Pete
  5. The first time I went up there the wind was from the east across the field making it ideal for buggying etc up and down the start-finish straight. what you also have to remember is we have the WHOLE CIRCUIT which covers straights and grass infields in every conceivable direction, on the day Marman was there we only allowed to use that small area (which was only about 3x the size of the white horse area :-) ) because the cyclists were on the track. It also has the added bonus that the grass is cut twice a week, and its not covered in dog poo! Also we have secured a 30acre site in wiltshire with 10acres exclusively for the Windywoos club, once I have completed the risk assessment, plus a 60acre smooth grass site near Milton keynes, this latter site is not even open to the public, if you want to use you have to be in the club, and its gauranteed to be free of other kiters or activities and public, it even has security, its on the top of a hill too! I think the judgement on castle combe from some users here, when they used a small tiny fraction of the Combe is rather premature. I am very pleased with the club progress as mileage is being made where others have failed in the past. We are doing it for the sport, the more the merrier. We want everyone to be involved its not a us and them situation, we don't play those games The insurance we are in the final stages of arranging will cover all your kiting and landboarding, buggying, surfing needs you won't need any other insruance. I had a professional underwriter examine closely the BPKA insurance, and there are some interesting caveats in the policy, which I personally found alarming, I am seeking a second independant professional opinion on it as we speak! The club is open to everyone, there is a wiki site as well that members can contribute to.
  6. The forum is at forum.windywoos.com, there is now a media wiki at wiki.windywoos.com, which contains info about kites, places to fly and club members reviews and videos, its a wiki so members can modify the pages and create their own. I changed the http://www.windywoos.com record to point to the wiki the forum was always at http://forum.windywoos.com but many used the www record to get to it. A web site professionally designed by vibrant solutions http://www.vibrant-solutions.net is on its way for the http://www.windywoos.com url. There were two guys from ATB kite shop in swindon at Castle Combe today, the wind was blustery and across the track, but it will change.
