  1. And where did they say you couldn't go??
  2. Yeah, but a Bank Holiday Monday means they'll be out regardless. And the Sun is forecast to shine, so expecting the worst. Especially on the way home.
  3. Yes-ish. I don't cope well with getting stuck behind dopey drivers on a Bank Holiday so 9am is my target. Probably snooze when I get there, also gives me time for a tinker with the buggy.
  4. That ain't gonna happen; it ain't windy enough. Now last week....................
  5. Yes, I'll be there around 9 waiting for the tide. See you there.
  6. Wind Map - Britain Observations gives a decent wind forecast, I find, and a picture of the country as a whole as well as locally. 2013 Tide Table and Solunar Charts for fishing in England if you want to be a tide geek. Tide times are 'actual'; you don't need to account for British Summer Time. Don't let the 'fishing' bit in the address put you off.
  7. Yes, Monday looks most likely for me too. 4 degreesC should keep most daytrippers off the beach. Early start to avoid the Bank Holiday traffic and Mick, your cafe and bogs should be open for you too. Happy days. Lynnlad, put your choccy eggs down and be sociable on Monday.
  8. Recovering from man-flu all week and am still dying. However, Monday may be possible if I'm properly nursed.
  9. Maybe I just haven't noticed them over the last few years, Mick. I've always assumed around May and during Autumn gave the best opportunities. Are you about over Easter?? Should be cold enough to keep you out of the sea.
  10. It is actually quite unusual to get so many decent Easterlies at Mable, so I try to get there every (weekend) time there is one. Next weekend is currently looking promising albeit with not such strong wind. Did you try for a pb?? Today was pretty well spot on for wind.
  11. Yes, that was me. The red flashing light gives it away I was going to stop to say hello but with the way the wind was howling, getting the kite out of the sky wouldn't have been pretty. Huttoft makes for an interesting run but you can't beat the speed of the strip at Mablethorpe.
  12. As I mentioned, I'm busy this weekend with family although at a real push I could make the Saturday. But to make it worthwhile I'd need to be on the beach by 7am so leaving home by 3.30am................. Er..... Mind, the last visit on the 10th was pretty wild. Went to Huttoft, endured snow, rain, hail and lumpy winds and managed 50.3mph at N. Mable; so close to my pb. Nearly got cut off by the tide on the way back but my heated gloves and insoles were terrific in the sub-zero wind chill. Hmmm.....3.30am.....
  13. Mick, I've been hoping that this forecast was going to change dramatically as it's the ONE weekend I can't make and it looks like a stormer. The only consolation is that it's an early LT. (9.15 Sat, 10.00 Sun)
  14. Last minute change of plan..........................Huttoft. That setting up on the beach lark is the winning advantage over Mable.
  15. ^^ 8mXT?? Maybe a bit large. I'll probably be on a 6 or maybe a 4 if it picks up a bit. Just my opinion
  16. I remember the cold from a couple of weeks back, it took your breath away. So with a couple of degrees less and a few mph more I really need to plan for keeping warm! Monday looks spot on, Mick, but sadly weekday=workday for me so won't be able to play.
  17. Doesn't look like there is any motorbike beach racing this weekend either so possible good run south on a deserted beach. Paradise. Wind has eased a bit from 30+ to 20+ but should still be a good onshore breeze. Low tide at 11.00 at Mable. Seriously cold though!
  18. Before 6am. Lot of negativity on this thread atm.
  19. Mablethorpe Sunday anyone?? Might be a bit chilly.
  20. I'm quiet?? Maybe cos I'm out flying not waiting for the wind and sensible weather, like I do in Winter! Besides, I thought you were always a water babe during the Summer?? But yeah, I do need a change of beach; last Sunday was good. Now I've got a bigger buggy I do feel like I can go anywhereop without having to worry about sand/beach conditions. Still get attacked by dogs though. Must be the Lynx effect!!

  22. Locally, Stopsley. Not locally, it depends. I don't get much spare time, even at weekends. Usually Mable for the beach, though this year I'd like to try a few other places as I'm trying to get out of the habit of working Saturday mornings. Why??
  23. Probably not suitable for boards as although it was good for bigfoots, a mate who came with us struggled a bit with midis on his buggy. Not least because any tacking he needed to do took him off the main strip into softer sand. However, the sand itself is a more gritty, sharp sand than Mablethorpe's softer, finer sand which did mean you could buggy with bigfoots right over the dry areas up to the dunes without sinking in it.
