Sorry everybody, the Venom got sold.. I have been travelling for the past few weeks and could not log on.. Thanks for the interest. Dal.

Hi gang, I am getting rid of my (barely used !) still crispy Venom II. I purchased this new last summer and then got into buggying and have not touched it since.. The kite is the 07 version (purple, yellow, black and white). It will be sold with a Zero 7 Carbon Control Bar and Compact Sticks. It really is is great condition, been out of the bag 4 times.. I'll take offers of 300 quid and up seriously (cost me 700 less than a year ago !). Also up for grabs... a Flexi 07 FlexDeck (blue and white). Again, nearly new, couple of chips and scratches as you would expect from a newbies board.. all reasonable offers considered. Please feel free to PM with question etc... Cheers, Dal

Not sure about the PL Comp.. It would depend on the height of the sidebars, I suspect. I assume the the Comp and the XR have roughly the same amount of "seat space" within their respective frames. If you have a chance to put your Comp next to somebodies XR, compare the two in terms of general dimensions and, in particular, height. If they are fairly close then I suspect that the buggybags seat will work for you, once it's finished. Kitebuggyman was at an event this weekend and was going to try the seat in some other buggies so he may have news on applicability to the Flexi bugs and other PL bugs etc.. Over to you, John.. Dal

For those that are interested in this topic, I took my Peter Lynn XR and the Buggybags seat down to Greatstone yesterday to give it it's first proper run.. All I can say is that Buggybagman is onto something here, I buzzed up and down the beach all day with no aching back and after a solid 4 hours, felt like I wanted more ! I'll be feeding back more info. to Buggybagman so that he can refine the seat further and he should soon have a working raceseat for those of us that are fed up with the back pain that comes from riding these buggies for more than an hour.. It's possible that he might also be able to create a design that fits Flexifoil buggies as well... Watch this space... and contact buggybagman for more info.. Dal

OK. Rather than me try to take photos from every conceivable angle, lets set up a time on the phone so that you can talk me around the current set up and ask me questions about each strap etc. That should get you to a point where you can have a crack at Mk II, I guess.. I'll PM you now with my number etc. Cheers, Dal.

Hey Jon, (your PM mailbox is full and I can't send anything to you..) Guess what.. The seat that you sent through worked !! With a bit of improvisation with straps, the seat fits very snuggly on the PL buggy. I reckon you can make a fortune with these (and solve a lot of back problems) !! The only real issue with the seat that you sent me was the abundance of straps !! Had to tuck quite a bit of "strappage" away in order to stop things dragging.. I have taken some photos to show how well the fit works. Included is a "comparison" picture showing the standard PL seat against your one. You can see clearly here how much more back support your seat gives.. I couldn't seem to uload them here so I created a little YouTube clip to show them.. Please feel free to use these pictures as you wish, i'll leave you to post them to the forum if you want to.. So, all that remains is how to get one of these from you. Actually, I would be happy to pay you a fair price for the used one that you sent and just keep it, I spent quite a bit of time getting it to fit right. If this does not work for you, i'll send it back and get a new one from you (ASAP please !). Thanks for letting me try this out, really good news.. Regards, Dal

My son has a PL XR comp and i find it really uncomfortable- defo get a back rest - I have one on my RS buggy and its super comfy One more thing which PL seat do you have the standard one with the padded strip or the comp seat ?????? Thanks. Yes, I have a trikbitz backrest winging its way to me now and i have the comp seat.. Kitebuggyman and I were just discussing the possibility of one of his race seat being made to fit the XR which would make things super comfy.. I personally have my doubts due to the height of the side rails but its worth a stab.. Going to PM him now and see if he is still able to send me one to try.. Dal

Hey Pal, I'm back ! Did you post me your "test seat" yet ? I have not been to my office, will be there tomorrow.. Dal..
-
Ok pal. no problem.. I'll try and fit it as soon as I get back and, if it works, take some pictures for you to show.. If there is a problem, i'll think that it will because of lack of ground clearance (the side rails on the ST and XR are not very high).. We'll see.. Speak to you in a couple of weeks.. Dal

Any progress, mate ? I'm off on holiday on Wednesday for a couple of weeks so i'll check back in with you on my return.. Cheers, Dal

I've PM'ed you... Do you have any belt left ? Dal

Hi gang, OK, i've been using my little PL buggy for a couple of months now and really enjoying it. My issue is that I find the seat really uncomfortable to the point where I can only ride for a few minutes at a time without getting out a re-setting my joints ! Firstly, despite adjusting the seat, it still feels like I am "on" (rather than "in") the buggy. Secondly, I would really like to get some more (higher) back support. I'm not ready to go up to a race buggy yet (I still quite like my little PL and am not sure whether i'll go down the "race" or "freestyle" route) but I could REALLY use some help with the seat situation. Does anybody know of a company that custom makes seats that will fit the PL buggy ? I've emailed buggybags.co.uk and am awaiting a response.. Ta. Dal

A*se !! Don't worry... Just found out that the Dakine strop does not fir into my rolling spreader in any case ! That was a waste of 20 quid.. I'll just buy some more rope line and stick to what I know.. Dal
-
Hey gang, I just purchased a new strop (actually called the Dakine Adjustable Harness Lines). These are a bit more than just a strop line in that they are 1. adjustable in length and 2. have velco secured straps at either end. My question is, what is the best way to attach these to flexi handles ? The velco bits are too big to provide a secure connection to the normal "strop knots" on the back of the handles.. I guess that I could put the whole handle through the velco straps bit i'm not sure what this will do to handling and whether or not there is a danger her due to slippage etc. Any tips ?? Ta Dal

Heh, heh... The other good tip that I picked was "buy all of your kites the same colour"... Girls just see "a red one". How you been getting on with your new DP, Taunton ? I haven't really had my PL 16m out as i've been concentrating on the buggy.. Dal
-
So, that now gives me a 2.5m PKD, a 3.7m DP, a 4.9 Blade and a PL Venom II 16m for boarding. That should do for now..my wife is going crazy (i've only been kiting a few months !) Dal
-
Thanks guys.. Just bought a 2.5m Century for strong winds.. In answer to the question about Direct Power kites, they a basically a sort of budget Ozone (they use ozone nandles, lines etc). Fly a little bit like the Little Devil.. A nice alternative to the blade for me in winds above 15mph.. Dal
-
Yeah, it wasnt so out of control that I could walk backwards but I was certainly scudding well whilst on my feet.. Trying to get the kite higher in the windows was REALLY hard work (and it felt like the blade was going to "spank" me). I was watching another (very experienced) guy with a 3m race kite and he seemed to just steer upwind, slow right down and then control his turn.. I think that it's probably a combination of lack of experience and, as you say, a kite that tends to pull very hard in all parts of the window.. I was definately concerned about getting yanked out of the buggy when "going high" in the window.. These blades are animals, man !! Dal
-
Hi guys, Just started out with a buggy having been static flying and boarding for a couple of months. I mainly fly a 4.9 Blade IV but also have a 3.7 Direct Power. I was out in 15-18mph winds today (on the beach). The Blade was pulling hard and I was having fun in a straight line ! My problem was that, when trying to slow down (by steering upwind) the blade just would not follow me, resulting in my just sliding sideways (towards the blade) and then having to dump the kite in order to stop ! What I am doing wrong ? Is it as simple as being too powered up with the Blade ? I couldn't take my smaller kite out as i had snapped a line earlier in the day.. Tempted to go and but a little 2.5m PKD or something for days like today.. Any help much appreciated.. Dal
-
Sorry, meant "Soundman", obviously !
-
Wow! Really useful info Sandman, thankyou... That credit card is twitching quite badly now. I was down at Greatstone the other day and got going properly on the board with my Blade and a bar but I also got talking to a guy flying a 16m Venom II.. I could see just from looking at the way that he was flying how much fun a de-power can be ! Dal
-
Hey, Sandmonster.. Did you guys have any trouble launching and landing when you first started with the ARCS ? I've heard rumours that they can be tricky when on your own (which I nearly always am cos i board during the week). Dal
-
Right, so what i'm trying to understand is, in say a 15-20mph wind, I am going to be able to comfortably keep me feet on the ground and not "superman" by either letting the kite auto-zenith or pushing the bar right aay from me. Having never flown a DP kite i'm still slightly confused as to what to expect.. Dal
-
Sorry..I meant when the power is "off" ie. the bar is pushed right away from me, how would it feel in say a 20mph wind ? Like a 5m kite or less ? Ta. Dal
