  1. The best advice for your selection is be yourself - do not try to be anybody else and don't try to be what you think the board wants, they will see straight through any pretence. Apart from tha:) t like Ged says - good luck!!
  2. There will an RAF Power Kiting meet 27 -29 Jun at Rhosneigr. Any serving RAF members that want to come please drop me a line (if you haven't already done so) the window is closing...... Cost is £20 which includes accomodation and RPKA membership for the year (£5). You'll have to feed yourself, but there are plenty of pubs and eateries in the area, plus the possibility of a BBQ on the Sat evening (pending a willing volunteer to cook!). Plus check out the RPKA forums@: www.rpka.co.uk/forums Catch you later!!! CJ
  3. Guys, Does anyone know anyone that is good with web design? We need to get our website up and running as fast as possible - it's the way we do business these days! I have kind permission from the chairman of the Waveriders Asociation to plaguerise their website and shape it as our own. Need a web guru to work their magic One of the committee is already organising webspace on the RAF web, so that shouldn't be a problem. We already have a domain name www.rpka.co.uk (thanks Crob:D ) If you foot this bill then please let us know - it would be a committee position, and I can write some good stuff for reports when required (honest ). Trawl around and let us know - better still, let us know on www.RPKA.co.uk/forums. Cheers, peas, CJ
  4. OK Dudes, Rog aka Nuttyman on RPKA (and some other committee members) is pricing up some T shirts. Of course quantity affects price. Register on: www.rpka.co.uk/forums and lodge your interest. Cheers, peas, CJ
  5. m14dgt - we are looking at using Rhos as our base. They have a mountain lodge that will accommodate about 30 at £5 per head per night. Also, the Turbulence team is just down the road and Ged the deputy chairman has made in-roads for them to come along do some demos and perform some training. Things are really starting to kick off RAF wide. As for starting your own club, there really is nothing to it. A quick letter to the Staish, set up a committee and Bob's your funky! Its a bit more complicated when you are tackling an RAF wide organisiation!!! (We're getting there) Be great to see you guys in the New year - - watch http://www.rpka.co.uk/forums for details! Cheers. peas, CJ
  6. I'm so rude!! I forgot to mention a big HELLO to those that have found us here! Make sure you migrate with us to www.rpka.co.uk when it comes alive alive alive!!!!! (insane laughter). See you all at Airboss - you are all coming aren't you? Cheers, peas, CJ
  7. Chris, WOW - great work! No flies on you dude Wicked! Cheers, peas. CJ
  8. bloody heck - they're all coming out of the woodwork! Looks like there were a load RAF kiters hidden on here! Be intersting to see how many of us we can get to Airboss on the 15th Sep. Who's coming???? Cheers, peas, CJ
  9. Wasssupp!!! OK, here we go, a new thread for us all to use and keep up to date with whats happening RPKA wide. Had a publicity day today to get some in action shots of the committee...... no flying - no wind - none! So we had a quick conflab to discuss progress. Focus is well and truly on: 1. Arranging a committee RECCE to Rossneiger to check out the beaches and the accommodation etc. 2. Getting the website up and running and some T shirts made up. 3. Organising the first event to be held early next year 4. Insurance for club members included in Association membership. This means we need the treasurer to setup an assocaition fund. Hopefully some of us will get together at Airboss in a couple of weeks - beer, tents, kites (in that order - brilliant!) We may have our own forum set-up soon (thanks to Chris!) Hope to see you all soon, Cheers - peas, CJ
  10. Guys, SOrry not been posting been very busy! Anyhoo - got out on the airfield on Tuesday - the wind was OK (couldn't tell you how fast exactly), did a couple of nice runs so went for spped. First run got me 23mph - bit dissapointed - felt like I was doing 100!!!! Tacked back up, went for it again - 26mph! Wind dropped for a few minutes and I thought the speed runs were out. Then just as I was about to pack up, felt a great gust, and it kept on blowing! Took a last run, was going pretty poor, then the wind came on and I got my fastest ever at 29mph! All done with a 5m RIOT and a PL Comp XT. Maybe time for a massive depower! OK - were do you guys hang out in Clee and where is the closest parking? I got 2 weeks hols approaching so hopefully be able to meet some you dudes and dudesses. Think I need to get my sorry ass down to TLKP some time too, Catch you later! Peas, CJ

  13. Hi CJ where in kirton are you living I used to live there but am also up the road in scunny if you want to go for a quick fix in the week just to fly your kite you might want to pop upto the cricket field it's at the back of the trees from holt's or go on the big field across from the barracks last time I went to kirton to have a fly as my mum lives out there I went on the field across from the barracks I asked one of the gaurds he said don't use my board any where near the cricket or rugby pitch or I would be in the deep brown and smelly. Dude, I work at the barracks (RAF), no brown and smelly stuff for me! I have been out on the sports feilds almost everyday since I got here (I live 20 yards from the sportsfields in one of the houses at the bottom), but it can be quite gusty and it would be nice to meet up with some other lunies - after seeing some of the pics that have just turned up! I have just secured use of the beautifully kept airfield at Kirton. The glider club use it most weekends, you guys must come over and try it out - I'll see what I can proganise - may have to be a weekday evening tho I'll keep ypu posted. Cheers for now, peas, CJ
  14. Guys, Been invited to come across and have a chat. Moved into the area a couple of months ago and have been looking at various places to get the kit out and FLY! I live in Kirton in Lindsey, so where is the best place to go for the beach:D I fly a 3m BLade II on windy days and a 5m RIOT when its not so windy, and burn around in a PT Comp buggy. I am fairly new to the sport, so would be great to see some of the old hands at work. Where do you guys hang out and can I come and play? Cheers, peas, CJ
  15. Hello, Just checking in. I am setting up an RAF Power Kite Association, so if any of you guys out there are in the RAF, watch SROs for more info. At the moment I am flying a 3m Blade II with a 5m Riot on the way (can't wait to get it out the bag - OMG - what have I done! ), and sit in a PL XT buggy. I spend most of my time being dragged along the beach on my head or back or front or whatever position I find myself in ! Seriously, loving the sport, I think I have grown out of my Blade so keeping it for when it's blowing a hooley!! Looking for a venue in North Lincs, I have been told there is a good beach at Cleethorpes at the South end? Anyway, forum looks great! Cheers for now; peas, CJ
