  1. Good advice. A harness is the way to go as jumps, grabs and pops are hard to do with both hands locked onto your handles, unless you use a strop.
  2. I think it comes down to what you want to do next with a fixed bridle kite. Blades will provide lots of lift, and land you nicely , plus bags of pull for those end of day beach/local park races. The Rage is a great traction kite (it replaced the Bullet) but would not say it offers trick style floaty air like the Blade. My vote would be the Blade over the Rage - on handles for more control. If your wanting to work with depowerable foil system then the Peter Lynn Guerilla could be the way to go (you will need a harness).
  3. Is it still for sale?
  4. I'm in the market for a kite that fits between my 8.5m blade and a 3.5m bullet, so could be very interested. pm me and let's chat about the mulah... Am poping out, the wind in the park is excellent today, now but will be back later.
  5. The 4.9m mkii was a nice size for a range of wind speeds. My 3.5 Bullet comes out on days like today - along with an extra set of underpants! but would rather fly the blade as it's got more lift/float and less hardnosed grunt. It all depands what you want to do. Using it for mates to mess about with is not a bad idea so long as they know what they are doing.
  6. Easy peasy! You do what I do which is to hold your hands up to the skies and you spin on one foot in the opposite direction to the twist. It's v quick and requires no power from the kite. You do look a bit like a whirling dervish though!
  7. BTW I picked mine up after posting on the wanted forum on this site. Picked up a cripsy 8.5m mk III for £170 (inc postage) which was very reasonable, plus it came with a strop which was very handy as was set to fly straight out of the bag - nice Anywhere between £170 - £200 should be what you aim for. The harness set me back £40, again from this site. Happy boarding.....
  8. Am off to Bude at the end of this month for a small break with the family, dog oh and my KITES! Does anyone have any hot tips on where to fly? I will be staying near Bude so anywhere within a short drive is ok. Any advice/tips will be much appreciated. Will I need a permit for any of the beaches?
  9. Ignorance is bliss as they say and some fools often do the most stupid things with these kites - I know as was once an ignorant fool before someone gave me a few pointers and now am flying high and fast with more and more confidence – but a few words of wisdom from you guys can help them, however when it comes down to pure insanity, well there is no cure for that!
  10. I bought a 8.5m a few months ago to get me out on light winds days and I must say it was truely an inspired purchase. It quite literally is megga fun. I also purchased harness as was getting very tired hanging onto the handles under the beast for long periods !!!! My preference is to fly it on handles as the bar tends to make turning it very pedestrian like. Go for it and I promise you will not be disappointed
  11. Thought I would drop a note in here to say that while all you teen's and twenty something's were ripping up and down beaches the length and breath of the UK I was hammering over the grass in my local park and having the best of days. Winds were gusting at about 20-25mph with a constant 15mph or so. I looked as if I had a mud bath at the end of the session - excellent! The best day by a long chalk. Even 40 something's can have fun.....
  12. Having flown a Bullet 3.5 for the past 3 months in all wind conditions I went and bought a bigish Blade and it was the best decision by far. When I have mastered this beast i will likely move on to a depower system. I would not say that big Blades are a waste of money as on low wind days, like we have been having in London these past few weeks, they are the only thing in the park that will fly. Yes it turns like a bus with a puncture, but just being able to get the thing up there and moving on the board is a realy treat I will likely look for something around the 5m-6m mark when the winds get better, until then is my Blade 8.5 all the way!
  13. The new Flexifoil Extreme Bar looks nice, and it come with a 360 rotating chicken loop. Looks like the closest thing to a depowerable setup to me. http://www.mistralkites.com/kite_bars_and_handles/flexifoil/extreme_bar.html
  14. Rob505 - I am in Ealing.
  15. Hmmmm, need to get out and fly with people who are wiser than I to flying kites/landboarding in different conditions - In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king. Since I started landboarding 4 months ago I have only met one other boarder/kiter, and he was flying a Blade 6.6 on a Scrub for the first time on the day I met him !!! Will try to get out to a few different places in the coming weeks/months to broaden my flying experiance.
  16. Have experianced the over-fly problem on quite a few occasions, but a dab on the brake just before it hits 12 seems to do the trick. Good to hear that it's not just me that if finding the conditions today a tad tiresome. That and the 3 inches of water on the ground are really testing the resolve. Can't wait to get down to Cornwall this Easter to experiance sand under the board for the first time. Am over in Ealing for those wanting to send me a link to other parks open lnad to practise on. Am really a novice but keen to progress at what ever pace I can manage Would a 4 or 5m Blade be any better in these conditions. Have flow my 8.5m Blade on a couple of occasions - light wind days - and despite it turning like a bus on a skid pan it seemd to hold itself quite well, even when the wind dropped.
  17. Was out today in my local park after seeing the wind whip through the bamboo in my garden (it normally only moves in 10 - 15 mph winds as it's in a sheltered spot). Got to the park and got the Bullet up and flying in two shakes of a lambs tail. The problem almost immediately started when the kite fluffed at its zenith and dropped to the deck like a stone only to be caught by a gust of wind which rocketed it back over my head again. After about 30 mins of being pulled, lifted and dumped in wet mud and dog sh*t I gave up so have 2 questions for you all. 1. is there a good place to fly kites in London (I am West) as my local park seems to change not only the wind direction but he bloody power as it sees fit, and 2. Is there a kite that will fly in these god awful conditions - please let there be...

    10" tyres

You could always go retro and put on a set of pram wheels - Nice and thin, will slice through the mug and grass like a hot knife through butter.
  19. As someone said in one of the first replies it's all about personal choice. I'll see how it goes with the seat and maybe try a waist when I bump into a few other boarders - which ain't very often in my neck of the woods! Will have to try further afield, poss North Ldn Cheers everyone. Scooby....
  20. Thanks everyone. Have recently tried on a Maui Magic waist and Dakine seat - not many I know - and the seat won. Have now get myself a secondhand Dakine Fusion (inc spreader). Now need a smallish wind to try it out with my Blade! Happy flying indeed.....
  21. Thanks people. Was out yesterday trying on a few for feel and comfort, if you know what I mean, and the seat felt a lot better. Just need to see if I can pick one up off of the net or here. Does anyone have a Dakine Fusion they want to shift, size meduim or large?
  22. I'm sure this has been done to death somewhere else on this forum but what works best with a landboard, a seat or back/waist harness. Am looking for something that is easy on your crown jewels and won't lacerate your armpits when attempting jumps - is there a happy medium? Make, model and price would be good info to have.
  23. Thanks people. Have a few decisions to make me thinks. I might just get the Blade for me and get the Bullet for my son - how nice am I! We can then swap on the odd day when I feel the need for speed!
  24. Am in the market for a Blade. Would you take £170 inc P&P? This is a real offer. Paypal or cheque is cool with me. Could also send to you Acc directly if you give me the cordinates: sort, acc etc.. Let me know as am going mad waiting for a good wind day!
  25. I have been 6ft off the deck in 20mph gusty days with the 3.5m Bullet which was a great buzz but you are right in that I did have to keep the thing moving as my son found out when it picked him up and then dumped him in a puddle in the middle of our local park - nice. Am up for a 7m Bullet or 6.6m - 8.5m Blade, which ever comes first on ebay! Should I continue to use the handles or should i go for a bar now as can turn the Bullet on its axis with handles but on the bar it is a bit slow to move around.
