  1. I had a great time, got some serious lofting that made me wee in delight, the swell made for interesting riding also learnt a few lessons. After accidentaly pulling the safety on the chicken loop and losing the kite in the drink I have decided to always wear a lifejacket . First I thought about swimming in but being well beyond the breakers it was going to take some time and i got cramp in both my calf muscles - try tredding water with cramp in the calf muscles- pure agony. I took a deep breath and tried to bob in the water as I wound the lines around the bar and hugged the kite which had deflated by this point, thankfully I had closed one of the single point inflation valves so one strut was still inflated. I clung on and paddled for the shore where a kind windsurfer collected my board. 1. 3mm wetsuit does not cut it 2. wear boyancy 3. always seal a strut on a single point inflation system 4. What a stupid place to put the quick release! It's where you grab the loop to hook back in again. Thanks to the windsurfers and friendly kiters.
  2. Single to St'Lucia for 2 weeks from the 14th April from Gatwick. Bought the ticket for £450, I will sell it for £300 (includes the the £100 name change fee) - or best offer. Kite beach is a 2 minute drive away from airport http://www.slucia.com/kitesurf/ Accomodation £20 a night Work commitments mean I can't leave on that day and will not allow me to change the date!
  3. I am sure you would buy something without seeing it. Why waste each others time if a picture can tell me what condition it's in and avoid dissapointment. I prefer certainty.
  4. I am interested in the GK Sonic, where abouts are you based? Do you have any photo's to verify it's condition?
  5. Westly winds again, time to go to give this haloed Ainsdale a try tomorrow.
  6. There is none. http://www.xcweather.co.uk/
  7. Wind is Frais this coming weekend is going to be terrible, 10 / 15 mph all offshore.
  8. I was the beginner with the old pink waroo kite. I have always been on flat waters before, was fun riding with the swell but going out to sea was a pain, you either go fast and skim the top of them (really jerks the knees) or slowly and follow the swell. No club just turn up, you can access the beach from Bridlington, the car park is in the direction of Fraisthorpe. - read the first post has everything you need.
  9. I had a blinder on Sat, the chap with the arc? was doing a really good job holding his ground. I was walking up the beach every 20 minutes, how on earth do you keep the board in the water in large swells like that to keep upwind. Great time, knees are jarred to pieces and my left side is blue from launching up those swells too fast, all good experience.
  10. Southerlies on Sat and north easterly on Sunday blowing over 20 mph. I am excited and anxious at the same time, 3mm wetsuit
  11. I recently came back from Ras Sudr, amazing location (lagoon wise .... boring as hell if there is no wind. Go to moon beach if you want to meet people / drink go to the hotels if your wife can keep your evenings occupied. We went into Cairo twice since there was so little wind. Tip: Don't let the Egyptians make you feel guilty for giving them a small tip. Give them a £5 and the finger if they become c***s, personally I would rather go to Kenya but the wind in Ras Sudr is a sure bet (was there for 2 weeks, had one week with no wind).
  12. Will anyone be there this Saturday, the wind is blowing offshore, as always. I am a reasonably confident when it comes to kite surfing although I have never been kiting in English waters before, I am tired of waiting for the ideal conditions so thought I would head down there just as the tide starts coming back in again. Will anyone else be out on the water?
  13. Yes I have been there, best place / holiday in the world. True paradise. Pinewood village is the place to be, the food is simply divine! The wind is best Dec - Feb, I was there in March for a week and didn't get any kiting done, just lost of long gazes into the distance willing the wind on. Late summer the wind picks up again from the south but it's not as clean, quite gusty, although Aug is the time of the year the pro circuit goes through their neck of the woods. Shapeshifter is the man to talk to, but in all honsety you will find everything you need by using the SEARCH function!
  14. Planes on landing are not going that fast, flaps extended they hit the deck at sub 200 km/h. Still enough to dislocate your shoulders, I am sure some wiz kid could calculates the force on the lines when a 70kg is accelerated to those speeds.
  15. 11mph northerly in Cleet, can't be good.
