  1. Doh!!! way to big to fly in anything other than a breath of wind, had and 8.5, and scare the hell out of me! reconsider fast!!!! Whats wrong with a 4.9 or a 6.6? loads more power than your buster - big - big leap there!
  2. Hi , i was flying blades , then flew a 9.5 sabre , and sold all my blades and got a set of sabres. Great depower, and all kite fly fairly similar in teh range. 11.5 from about 10mph will get you going well, hard work under that , the 7m will go up to about 25mph and a bit more of you are brave enough ! The kites are soo stable to fly , and so predictable, no nasty suprises, loads of lift , with nice float for landings . Found them nicer to fly than the blades, and just suit my riding style - i only use them with a board. As for gusts , yeah they do handle them fairly well, will fold in crazy gusts , but cos of the depower and the bar , gusts tend just to be absorbed by teh bar moving away , rather than the kite pulling you off the board. Try and borrow one first, i did, made me smile from ear to ear , no looking back. Love the easy set up as well, from the bag will take about 1 minute to get it in teh air , no messing on with lines once it is set up. Try first , sure you will like them!
  3. looking forward to the weekend already! cheers guys , i knew there must be some boarders out there! Will have to stop in at terbulance on the way , sounds like i need a radar detector to go with my wind meter! Hope the winds are going th eright way this saturday
  4. cheers all, looks like i will have to travel, how far to prestatyn or llandudno from chester , i have been told the welsh police like their speed cameras too!
  5. cheers , the turbulence web is great will give them a bell, as you say sounds like black rock is the one, Cheers
  6. does black rock sand only open after october? is it banned over the summer - whats the chat regarding that ? i am keen to join in the fun but realise you have to play by the rules as so many beaches with bans on now!
  7. Right , getting somewhat miffed now. Just moved down to chester from Newcastle upon tyne and trying to find somewhere to kite. Went up to ainsdale yesterday, and have now gone through all the form filling and sending off to join TASKC so i can kite there, today went over to the wirral to walk on west kirby beach , thought , that looks like a top kite spot , only to get home and read on here that kiting is very much frowned upon there! why , not sure one of the largest beaches i have seen , must have been acres of sand with no one on them. Anyway , does anyone have a suggestion for a rock hard , landboard friendly beach near chester ie north wales that has a good community of kiters , and sensible rules, and well controlled kiting? currently not liking what i see down here guys, but i know i can be persuaded! Please help , i am desparate for a blast with my board, is it that casualty episode that has made the councils twitchy towards kiteboarding? buggying at 50mph looks more dangerous to me , but you can do that at west kirby!
  8. i would get teh comp 6 , thats what im after for replacing my core 16 , either that or teh comp 16. Trampas are too heavy and wide, if you go for one of those make sure you get one with less ply than they recommend.
  9. i would say the sabre , but as said the samurai is very different kite to teh sabre. The 7m sabre will be great over 18mph winds , but as said before, i woul dtray and stretch to a 9.5m if poss, this is the most versatile from the range

    Gusts!

sounds cheeky , but nope, just got to hang on and try and land it! glad you are ok though , gusts suck!
  11. i recommend the MBS comp 6 over amy thing , nice light board , stiif with good pop. Currently upset as i bought a trampa deck to replace my core 16 deck and the thing weighs twice as much , just stupidly heavy used it once and hated it . Well made though coulkd be alright if you got the smallest ply.
  12. I did the same as Bladez, but got a 15ply trampa deck, like lifting concrete, really well made, and certainly indestructable, but soooo heavy. I have taken it off again , and am going to save for an MBS comp 6 deck, These seem great really light, and seem pretty solid. Would recommend steering clear of the rockstar hubs though , mate has broken 2 within 2 weeks, MBS say they are fine for downhill riding but dont cope with the lateral forces that kiters put on them - begs the question - why put them on a kite specific board then?????
  13. cant kiteboard on wollacoombe as far as i know, plus not a square inch of beach at this time of year , also sauntonm is out, westward ho is the only bet really
  14. Got on fine with my 11.5 sabre in 7mph winds on sunday , just jumping but loads of tug to stay up wind - cant comment on the others as havent flown them
  15. thanks guys, looks like some lite winds this weekend so will give it another crack!
