Some kites are difficult to fly well, others just hand out tricks... The QPro, for example. Kind of a pain in the butt to fly well. It really demands careful inputs and doesn't like to be smacked around. Then there's the other side of the coin, the kites that make you look better than you really are... I would say my Nebulas (Four Winds) are the best kites I've flown to make me look like I know what I'm doing. I've heard this said about the Gemini, as well. Maybe they're talking about the new Gemini, mine is enjoyable to fly, but not easy. It sounds like the DS is a little demanding, too.

So, what kite makes you look good while flying ?

Nice looking kites Rob, very simple.

If I play up on my QPro's it does seem to be with the Talon, I've had it about a year now, and I think I'm getting to know it quite well. But, TBH... I think it's gives tricks up like a 2 bit :diablo::D:cool:

And some day's thats just how I like em ;)

Rob,

I've found the NSE and Sea Devil for me accept my sloppy inputs yet trick consistently and well.

When I go back to another kite from an NSE in particular it just proves to me how much assistance the NSE is providing me in "coping with my inputs" to try and make me look competent.

cheers

The Talon is top of my list for new kite aquisitions... I've got my set all ready colored up in the colorizor, just waiting to sell one of my cars to finance more kites...

The Nirvana is also on my list, but the Fearless, DS, and new Gemini are ahead of the Nirvana. If there were other kite enthusiasts in my area, I wouldn't have to buy every kite I want to try. Most kites I've been impressed with, some were major disappointments (QPro SUL).

BTW, Steve, I agree about the Sea Devil. I learned alot from mine over the last year, and it is satisfying to fly even if you're sloppy. As you get better, it seems to get better, too.

The Nebulas are very plain looking until you put them up to the sun... the Prismatex just lights up like a Pink Floyd laser show !

Focus Hydra (look for a full review coming soon).

Over the years I've had a number of kites that have taught me the next trick or set of tricks. I say taught me, because they were tricks that I didn't have a clue about, and couldn't do on previous kites. Each time, the new kite had an affinity for the new trick and was tolerant of bad inputs.

Some examples?

Box of Tricks - axels

Elixir - long steady fades

Gemini - backspin (to infinity and beyond)

Shadow - backspin cascades

Temptation - wap do waps

Q-Pro - cometes

Nirvana - rolling susans

Having experienced the "aha!" moment on each of these kites, I could go back to previous kites and do the tricks I hadn't managed before. From the short time I've had so far, I just know the Hydra has a bag full of tricks just oozing out.
