Cat D, mostly the reason why it is cheapish. May be worth checking out though, been repaired (what seems like) very well. Quote

Schern Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 ive given up on the diesel idea as thats not the way i drive....but once i've considered a family or prospects of not being a total petrolhead i'll be going down that route! I was a bit worried about not being able to rev a diesel as I like to be able to use the top end, but I've not had any issue with the change from petrol to diesel. I can rev the vRS pretty much all the way to the redline before the power noticeably drops off, but with the torque available so low down its a lot easier to drive round town. I think peak torque kicks in at 2300rpm and peak power at 3750ish, but it still pulls nicely up to 4000, after that its a bit out of breath. For around £400 you can get a custom map done which will push the power up to around 180bhp and torque to around 300lb/ft iirc, although thats maybe pushing the standard clutch a bit far. Quote
stug45 Posted December 13, 2007 Author Report Posted December 13, 2007 catergory d write off? well i'd rather drive a vauxoen novaxo than that! did an ONLINE quote on adrian flux and was quoted £3600. im surprised they even quoted me! i think i'll ring them up and see if i can get them to insure me on one for under £2000. theres no way any car i get will be under £1000 for next renewal at my age. so for another few hundred quid i'll have a few more horses under the bonnet!
