Hello all,

Right, I'm heading for cornwall this weekend and wouldnt mind a session or two.. I know Perrenporth, and Polezeth have big stretches of beach at low tide. Is there any restrictions for land kiters there (or anywhere!)

Cheers..

dont reckon so on polzeath. used to go to that beach every weekend when i was a lad. used to see kiters in the winter (think there's a ban in the summer) so you should be ok. unless thats changed in the past 4 years.

Give Mobius a ring at Perranporth. they're a kite school and they'll be able to tell you about most restrictions in the area im sure.

hope it helps.

Make sure you have insurance. I think perranporth has it as a requirement.

Watergate bay can be nice to fly on. I went there this time last year, straight onshore wind and flat sand, lovely! Sadly when I went in May the beach was covered in bumps :-(

gwithian is possibly the best beach in cornwall... 4 miles of sand, but you are not allowed to use any wheeled vehicles, (kiteboards and buggys included) on the big sand dunes by the beach

towans is a local term for dunes, u might see it on signposts or summat

ok ?

Yep, I can vouch for Porthemmet - the hidden gem of Cornwall. I was there over the Summer. Local schoolchildren sweep the beach three or four times a day during their summer holidays to keep it smooth! You can't ask for more than that.

And it seems to have its own special microclimate, too, so that even when it's raining or windless in Newquay, it's sunny and windy in Porthemmet.

And I can vouch for the friendly locals too - they love it when you ask for a "parsty", using the proper pronunciation! They soon started calling me Kwn' (not sure how you spell it ...), which is local slang for "mate".

Yep real friendly :) They call me something similar but it's spelt something like "knt"... But I have yet to figure out what it means

The beach is more deep than long so you have over twice the depth of Gwithian! Tide goes out a long way past Emit Rock. It's said that in the right conditions the beach can be seen from space!

daZZa-S - you've got it confused, I think ... what they actually say that space can be seen from the beach, which is true though admittedly only at night.

PMSL Ah yes... Sorry got confussed... all that salt water rotting my brain.
