I too have got the orange box to get through, but I can't be left out of the on-line live COD4 action so I'd better get meeself hooked up with a copy quick:)

i got my CoD4 2 days ago,, it cost £29.73 from tesco`s. And yep its great. :) the online ranking sytem is blinding, i been online playing for about hour n made 2-3 ranks n got a few upgrades already,...

we`ll all need to sort out wot server to use so we can all go on n shoot the shat out of each other

I think most people on this thread are playing it on the 360 so we cant choose servers etc.

Same as me, came early and was about £37 posted, its worth preordering with them ,got assassins creed this week, and next week theres loads ace combat, need for speed, guitar hero 3 , and mass effect, all due to arrive a bit early thanks to shopto.net

 

And cod4 is the best online game for the 360 imo!

(solo game is pretty ****in good too! - the sniper level was genuinally scary)

I'll flex up when I'm on next. This game is really good in some ways, but in other ways it is awful.

 

The storyline is great, the graphics look great and most of the multiplayer is brilliant. The online challenges are good, but give a bit of advantage to the Americans who have had the game longer than we have and have unlocked better guns and perks. You level up pretty quickly though, I've played 5 hours online and I'm up to level 21 of 55 already.

 

The game has a wonderful habit of either respawning you in the middle of a firefight, in a room full of enemy solidiers or right behind your enemy after they've just killed you

 

The AI of your team in the single player campaign is laughable, I've lost count of the times one of them has bumbled across my sniper scope as I'm shooting or they stand in front of you all the time. Playing it on Veteran can be really annoying, the enemy know where you are all the time and any attempt to hide will result in a sea of grenades landing on you, they can snipe you across a field with an MP5 and the infinite spawning of enemies at certain points is so frustrating.

 

And I agree with Kinny, the sniper level is scary especially on Vet level. It took me 3 1/2 hours to do it yesterday morning after putting the Captain down by the Ferris Wheel. I nearly threw my controller through the TV on more than one occasion and the dog nearly got kicked.

 

They are minor points though and I'm loving it, I haven't played Halo since Friday morning. Buy it, you won't be disappointed unless you have a phobia of modern warfare games with cheesy British accents and scary facial hair

Just got it for the PS3, it's amazing. Downloaded the Gran Turismo HD demo yesterday, the graphics are unreal.

My main gripe (and only gripe really) is the sheer amount of bloody grenades that get winged at me and me alone!

That little grenade indicator is easily miss-able and next to no use at all, should be bigger for such a massive situation.

 

That sniping bit where you make "the shot" was wicked, keep replaying that just to take the shot - How satisfying is it to get a perfect shot!

 

Only other little thing is as mentioned, the AI of your team, not so much with the general running and shooting they do,

(they routinely save me from swift grenade death), but they get in the bloody way when breaching doors or going through buildings!

 

@ Disco - Don't think the yanks got a head start on this one , it was released worldwide last Friday.

When i got it Thursday (pre-order) , the few people online i found seemed to be French or Polish?? only met a few yanks up to now, the time i play at (midnight to about 2am) seems to be mostly other Europeans online?

The Yanks got it on the Tuesday before us, so not much of a start, but if you look at the amount of time some people have spent playing this online already it's like 3 whole days - do they have a life?

those dogs scare the 'kin sht outta me when im playing late at night! Going through the campaign on veteran now, at the plane level but im dredding the sniper level with the bloody ferris wheel! couldnt do that on hardened!

 

Not sure how the yanks got it early disco, twas a sycronised release world wide according to all the game sites? Was looking through my friends list last night and they have already got themselves guitar hero 3! lucky sods!

I find playing on Veteran it's more of a case of "dagga dagga dagga, @#&* I'm bloody dead again....respawn dagga dagga dagga @#&* crash as I throw the controller through the TV"/Yelp yelp yelp as the dog gets kicked"

yep where is everyone up to on vet level? im only on about level 4 after finishing it on medium difficulty the other day?

Completed it today bar the Mile High Achievement, then I've got a couple to tidy up for the full 1000 points - finding the intel, saving the farmer and beating the course record on the intro bit.

 

If you think the Ferris Wheel is bad, you should wait until the War Room level, that was even worse especially as for some reason the checkpoint didn't appear until I'd made it into the last tunnel before the blast doors which caused much anger

every credit pal, dont honestly think ill have the patience to do it all on veteran! getting pi55ed off on the earlier levels, im on the bit where you have to get across the field without getting spotted but everytime the bloody helicopter pops up and swiftly dispatches me leaving the rest of the team without a scratch! Any tips anyone?

Crwawl all the way until you get to the last hay bales, if you get spotted at any time sprint full tilt for the barn at the end of the field, dispatch the blokeys inside. One you're in buildings you're (fairly) safe frm the helicopter.

 

Going to have another go at One shot One kill later, so bloody FRUSTRATING!!!

Finished the single player last night (only on regular - gonna tackle it on a harder setting next!) and what a brutal game - superb! So many moments that are unmatched in any other game: The nuke going off, the execution of the president, the last pistol toss at the end , the hiding in the grass in a ghillie suit - superbly handled and the best use of cinematic style stuff I've ever seen.

 

Gonna give online a go later tonight - anyone else gonna be on? I'll no doubt die lots.

the pistol bit at the end was brilliant i thought, better than the usual generic fps ending, Will be online tonight though if your all about, still not been able to "join a friends game" i think you can only do it if you make or join a private game.
