OK, I won't even mention about Borat's Mankini being worn upside down then.

(warning: Lukas has a mankini :D)

Just checked the webcams and they must of had a massive snow storm within the last 24hours, loads of new drifts around plus they have 7 days of more snow forecasted.

I'm popping into the shop today so will find out for you Rich.

I know Lukas has been working hard to sort everyones transport arrangements and I'll find out the latest.

Sorry for the lack of website updates, am working on individual info sheets with the transport/cabin/apartment info.

Coolio.

Lukas has been working through the list for Holiday1 to confirm their transport/ferry cabin/Haugastol accomm/food options/correspondence method (email or post) and asking if there is any questions.

Any problems or change of plans/ideas or questions, just let him know.

A letter or email will be sent out to you.

I will also back this up with info on the mini-site this week.

Holiday2 people will then be contacted.

Ok I've tried seraching for flexi threads in this forum and failed :(

For the first time I am gonna hot wax/tune my own board. I have read that its fine using a cheap (non steam) temp adjustable iron but I was thinking I might get one of the 'tuning packs' that are made. Any recommendations?

Dakine deluxe + some other wax seems to be the front runner at the moment!

Thanking you kindly.

(and don't worry I'm gonna try it on my old board before I go anywhere near the Nobile!)

Personally I find Dakine/Bakoda/Burton/etc are High Street labels and not wax bred experts (possibly they don't even make their own waxing stuff), but for the same money (with a bit of hunting) a 100% dedicated company such as Swix or TOKO do know their stuff.

Having said that, I bought a Bakoda kit a few years ago and have slowly upgraded as I go.

If I was starting again I would go for:

- Edge tool

- Swix or Toko iron

- Wide Plexi scraper

- A mix of Swix CH4, CH7 and CH10 to cover every temp or the TOKO all-purpose.

- Structuring brush*

- Swix base cleaner fluid*

- Swix Fibrelene*

- TOKO P-tex repair candles (with metal scaper or knife blade if you are careful).

* extra but worth it for a proper job and lasts ages.

we paid £30 for our TOKO T8 iron works a treat! It has groovs in the metal base plate so the wax can be channeled to drip off the iron in several places instead of one, saves time and you get a more even coverage ;) ! sad that i know that but hey  Brought it from Decathlon

Nice one. Decathlon do have some TOKO and Swix stuff in limited supply and often take them off the shelf early March.

I did notice their Swix wax is slightly more expensive than normal though (but still cheaper than Norway).

just got home from the pub to find my e-mail from lukas, and have to say it made me jitter around on my seat thinking about it all. can't wait to get ripping on the snow. just to confirm on e thing, is everyone driving to turbulence first to load up or is it a mass meet at newcastle???

Hi guys, just a quick one....just got my Cabrinha Empire 156 and been setting it up. The base is covered in tiny dimples like a golf ball, according to the blurb on it this makes it go faster/carve harder/make my penis bigger etc, but surely if you wax it, all of the holes wont be there any more? Or have I got a board that doesnt need waxing just yet?

Posted

Skis and boards go fast after waxing because the surface of the wax after being finished and brushed is not smooth, rather is covered in loads of tiny groooves, which creates a low friction layer of water between the board and the snow, or something like that. I guess maybe the theory is that the little dimples improve the behaviour of that interaction between waxed base and snow...?

Can't imagine any board would not need waxing!

Angoose - Mixture. Some are driving upto Llandudno and dumping their motors, others are going straight upto Newcastle as they are ready to go.

It should show the overall plans on the updates later today.

MrJoyce - Sounds like you either need a microscope, a Polo mint and a pair of tweezers or a girlfriend with tiny hands :D

I've done the updates for Holiday 1 on the mini-site (http://www.ukkiting.com/Norway2008).

The 'BOOKED' section now has your own info sheets (some of the payment/form details are slightly out-of-date and will be fixed).

'HOLIDAY1' also has the overall logistics and maps.

You should of also received a 'final info letter' and possibly a phonecall from Lukas.

The Holiday2 logistics is currently being confirmed with everyone to make sure the plans are tickedy-boo and should be published next week.
