But more seriousely, i hope it doesn't encourage people to go out and try kitefighting. Hundreds have been killed doing just that in indian(?) kite fight festivals.

A lot of people are killed because they fly kites into powerlines or walk off roofs while watching the kite. Kite fighting in itself isn't particularly dangerous if you follow the usual safety guidelines.

I know of a few occasions where the loose kite complete with glassed line has killed/injured innocent bystanders. I think there was a motorcycalist who had his throat ripped outby a loose line.
