mayhewjareth
what is the best size blade for jumping in light winds
cassiewoofer
That totally depends on the wind speed, (how light) and you (again how light) you gotta try them and see really as everyones style/fear of heights or control (lack of) is different. I've only flown the 4 and 4.9m, the 6m bego is excellent for jumping in 10-15mph, been 12ft up with it but a lighter crazyer yoof would easily go higher:eek: . I'd love a go on an 8.4 (or is it 8.6m) blade (blade 1,2,3 or 4) in 7-12mph or maybe even 15mph. preferably on a beach onshore wind! by the way i'm 10st5lb or 66kg. just remember to start lightest winds and work up! good luck oh, avoid the midday sun (up to 4pm) if you're in land! Richy303
All the Blades are good for jumping, it all depends on your skill, what you are/will be riding, your weight and what you consider is a light wind? But generally, the 8.5 and 6.5 would be good for lightwind (

Richy303
i have a blade3 4.9 what do you think would be the best wind range im about 11 stone It’s difficult to say. It depends on your experience, what exactly you want to do with and how you're flying e.g. are you harnessed? Without any background I would simply advise that you take it out in about 10-15mph, get to know the kite and slowly work up the wind range. The 4.9 is an awesome kite, but with that potential comes responsibility – to your own self preservation: Don’t get overly confidant too soon or it will spank you! J Fly safe. Frakke1599968664
IN the Power kite mag Rob Hills Take the Blade III 6.5 Out up to 20mph Blabe III 8.5 Out up to 15 mph Thats What the Power kite mag read ????????? He out all the time and years of experance I wish :D:D If I had that level of skill so would I .... I am out all of the time and I have had my blades out in higher winds than that... not that I'm saying anything but the statement is however true and I BELIEVE that it is dependant also on the time of year..... e,g last year all through the summer I was out on the 8.5m Biv as much as possible and it was almost all the time (up to 25mph at one point) and the 6.5m didn't get a look in ..... There was a time when I had to take out the 6.5m and it was 30mph I couldn't walk backwards with it and had a job holding an edge so I called that a limit... I've also had the 4.0m Biv out in 40mph doing aeriel kiteloops and called that a limit too..... HOWEVER THIS IS SUMMER WIND WHICH IS DRY, LIGHT AND THIN... This year in Feb I was at the Ho! with Will and Richy the wind was only 20mph I was on the 4.0m AND THAT WAS A HANDFUL (I haven't got a 4.9 otherwise I might have done that) THIS WAS WET, HEAVY WIND.... Wind TYPE makes all the difference is all I'm trying to say... and the heavy stuff reduced the kite size considerably in my experience F
Richy303
Well worth taking note of what Frakke is saying here: Don't fly by a wind meter alone - ‘feel’ how the wind is blowing. The back of your hands and the side of your face is often a better judge of wind 'power' than a wind meter. Fly Safe
craig.w1599968638
Agree with the above we have had several winter sessions in heavy wind this year as Richy will remember dont take your windy bob for granted!.. ...and ive posted on a weather forum to find out if reason is why we think it is

So One day at 25 mph could be different from another day at 25 mph? So Being Over powered on my 5.5 and dropping down to the 4.4 could have been more to do with the TYPE of wind? Nothing to do with me having a screaming hangover and unable to hold on ? Cool

cassiewoofer
That certainly is a good point, change in density hence force on kite can increase by more than 10% effectively changing kite from 4.9m to 5.5:eek: Quite interesting is the weather! Can't find if this density increase can be even higher when air pressure is high and humidity high too! http://www.windpower.org/en/stat/unitsw.htm#anchor138877
cwatson
i was goin 15ft on a b2 6.4 in about 15mph I wouldn't say that high lol but you could have easily gone that high, me and charles were holdin onto your ankles. if you'd really really really gone for it i reckon 15-20ft would have been no probs. that was such a fun lil sesh bought a 6.4 myself!!
