spire Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Hi Guys Just wanted to ask your opinion on the airush flow 2007. Old Technology now, but i am looking to buy a 7m airrush flow as a high wind / surf kite to complement my 10m 09 switchblade. Is this a good kite or am I wasting my time? I would also like any other suggestions on a second hand kite for high wind, something fairly safe ie good depower/ bow or hybrid. I am just starting in the sport and am at the stage where i can keep up wind/do small jumps but am after a small kite with good safety that i can use when i can't hold down my 10m. Thanks really appreciate your Help Cheers Joel Quote
Goz Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Can't comment on the Flow, but I think Briskites might still have some 2008 7m Caution Mayhems at a good price. Still yet to read a bad review of them, and if you ask him real nhice he may give you a 10% XK member discount http://www.briskites.com.au/index.php?l=product_detail&p=2 Quote
Baggsy Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 is the air rush going to suit your other kites? you might find it dissapointing compared to your switchblades.. obviously you are not a big person or it really is a windy spot where you kite ... but if the kite is cheap.. you can adapt to it ..i actually like the airrush kites... nice construction and shape. Dave Shepp Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 I like flying the Airrush Flow14m(not sure what yr) nice and floaty but I don't like the relaunch on it, even on the beach it's a pig to reverse launch. Mind you I've only flown it 4 times so far, it's my mates kite. I usually fly Ozone instincts..... Quote
spire Posted December 10, 2008 Author Report Posted December 10, 2008 I am only about 63 kgs and the 10m switchblade has been really good for me in most conditions, but i kite down near Wilsons Prom in victoria and it often gets very windy. And in regards to price i am looking at a trying to spend $500 or less as the switchblade is good in most winds for me and a smaller kite is not going to gets heaps of use. thanks Quote
Peter Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 i had an airush lift 20m once upon a time, do you remember it baggsy? i flew it once, in zero wind, then swapped it for my first buggy. ahh yes i remember it well...... sorry, off topic. Quote
drewgarth Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 Hey Joel, I presume you ride down at Sandy Point? or somewhere like that? Where the wind is 30ish knots a lot of the time My girlfriend and I started in Feb this year so have our progression firmly in our mind . I guess one bit of advice we would have is dont underestimate the amount you will use the smaller kite. As we have progressed we find ourselves regularly pulling out the smaller kites and working them. They turn faster and we love our smaller kites...fun to fly. On days when i used to ride my 12m kite, i will regularly borrow my girlfriends 8m kite and she will go for her 6m because we enjoy the smaller kite. We have Gin Nazcas and love them... Im 73kg and I ride the 8m gusting up to about 35knots (from 20knots) and the 6m in up to 35 to 40. My girlfriend who is 50 odd kgs rides the 6m up to about 35knots. Obviously keep looking for a bargain, but i would guess living where you are, that something like a 6 or 7m kite will actually get a lot of use...possibly more than your 10! So dont worry too much about hard earned dollars spent on a smaller kite and not being used Happy kiting cheers Andrew Quote
