Anne1599968726 Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 Cool Amazing what people come up with sometimes, there's some real imagination and skills out there. I'll stick with my Tonka buggy though Quote

Sand-Yeti Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 1) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/POWERKITES-kite-buggy_W0QQitemZ220088577454QQihZ012QQcategoryZ123704QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting 2) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/kite-buggy_W0QQitemZ140093234503QQihZ004QQcategoryZ123704QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting No. 1 is fascinating with its upside down swan neck and sit on rather than sit in seat. The front forks look massive. At first I thought they were telescopic but don't think that's the case because the tyre would whack the underside of the lower fork bridge. It's got loads of ground clearance & would like to try it once in the dunes (no bum bashing, that's for sure). I wouldn't buy it but happy to test it out in my playground. No.2 with it's two front wheel steering looks interesting. However, the rest of it looks like it will twist severely if you ever tried to turn it at high speed. It might even twist just from the kite pulling sideways. Just look at that skinny back wheel & how close the seat is to it. All the weight down the rear end will put one hell of a load on it. The beauty of this buggy is that if you are looking for the pilot, you just follow the light impressions on the sand with the one single deep groove in between. On second thoughts because the front end is so light it will continually be breaking away at the front. I won't buy this one either. Quote
Ped Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 Repost!!!! Saying that the first one is only 40miles away from me........ mmmmmm...... tempting Ped Quote
faster4_tec Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 a tempting bit of death on the side??? spoked wheels are only really strong up and down, any lateral forces in there and the thing will buckle and implode, ever watched soapbox racing??? well add a kite and 40mph and erm, yes... Quote

Where's your sense of adventure and definitely a permanent valediction for a suicide case at that speed? Quote

faceman Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 wouldn't fancy coming off either of those at high speed, being low to the ground does have it's advantages!! Quote
wind welder Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 The one with the twin front wheels is interesting, It reminds me of a buggy with the same wheel lay out, BUT it had a hand lever to steer with AND the 2 line kite was attatched to the frame of the buggy and flown with a winch/drum arrangement with a handle on that you wound the kite lines in or out to "fly" the kite. Can you guess who made it?????????? Yes you guessed correctly the prototype flexifoil buggy had all of the above features. Glad it never went into production.! Quote
