RedEddy Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Ive tried a few places in cambridge and only one will anodise my revos and then it'll cost 50quid and be limited to grey grey or grey! Which is no good! Does anyone know of any places that will do the revo casing for me? eg by post. Am wanting to change from gold to red. Has anyone does this already? Thanks, Russ Quote
The Flyin Scotsman Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Sorry to ask, but why not spend that money on something new rather than changing something aesthetic on something you already have? :S Quote
RedEddy Posted March 5, 2007 Author Report Posted March 5, 2007 Cos i hate the pukey gold colour! and i can change the colour to match my board a lot cheaper than buying a new set of revos! Quote
slide Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 what material r they - maybe etch primer an paint em(two pack) might be cheaper:) Quote
Airdeck86 Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 it work out cheaper to sell them and buy new ones wudnt it????? Quote
king_of_the_sky Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 if they are already anodised then surely you will need to take the current layer off before you can anodise them again? and im guessing u prob dont want to be doing that to often? Quote
RedEddy Posted March 5, 2007 Author Report Posted March 5, 2007 i'm not too sure what they will need. I think i'll talk to dave at kite-deck i'm sure he will know! Quote
Morgan Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 anodising is peanuts anywhere that charge you £50 probably because thats there minimum charge. I would offer to anodise them for you but having a bit of a pickle at the moment [long story] Quote
Spike J Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 You will have to get them stripped first then anodised, bead blast in between if poss. ask for them to be brightened first for that slightly shiny finish. Oh, and tell them to give them a good wash between stages due to acid staying in the holes, the acid comes out of the holes and stains the dye if its not washed prop. its not going to be cheap, as said, min charge and all that. RedEddy Posted March 5, 2007 Author Report Posted March 5, 2007 Ah i c. I think i mite just get a new housing from kitedeck! That mite be the cheaper option. Thanks for all the helpful comments tho guys. Quote
Morgan Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 Or get em painted might be a bit cheaper Quote
RedEddy Posted March 5, 2007 Author Report Posted March 5, 2007 I could get them powder coated really cheaply but that will chip off and i dont want that to happen. I mite resort to that tho if its all too much to bear! Quote
Spike J Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 is it just the bodies in red you are looking for or end caps aswell? Quote
RedEddy Posted March 5, 2007 Author Report Posted March 5, 2007 Just bodies. Do you have some? is it just the bodies in red you are looking for or end caps aswell? Quote
Spike J Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 just found two red bodies, used a once or twice £25 to you dude, I wont be using them. I will take a pic for you. Quote
faster4_tec Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 they'll be alu. and I'd be fairly sure hope technolgogies (spelling) who do bling bike bits will help you out. they'll clean em and just stick em in with one of their batchs I'd imagine. try and phone them, they are some of the most helpful people on a telephone that you can get:D if that fails then try goldtec/BETD they are another bike bling manufactuer who specialise in one off creations. I once got a series of adjuster knobs made for my old rockshox out of alu, sent them a 3d CAD drawing in an email, some money, and hey presto, bling home designed custom bits :D:D Quote
