Hense the name, Quick recipe still sounds like too long 10 mins they would have been too well done steaks don't need sauce, but the quickest one my mum used to make is 50:50 brown sauce and red sauce plus a bit of worcestershire sauce with mushrooms in it.. frying it in garlic and chilli is nice. simple is better with steak imho. RossRobObey Posted February 19, 2007 Author Report Posted February 19, 2007 yh s'pose, but i did some BBQ pork steaks the other day, it was tom. ketchup and BBQ ketchup with peppers and a bit a chilli, but GOd it was soooo sweet (as in sugary) couldn't eat it all. dont like cookin with ketchup anymore. LoKi_79 Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 loki a well cooked steak take 40mins from fresh so what are you on about. do you mean like a whole side of beef - i.e. beef wellington? that would take 40 mins. i like steak (and beef wellington) the rare side of medium-rare. but steak you are talking about 2-3 mins each side depending how good the griddle pan is and how thick the steak is cut. RossRobObey Posted February 19, 2007 Author Report Posted February 19, 2007 i like steak (and beef wellington) the rare side of medium-rare. Urgghhh, can't stand rare steak. Gota be 'Well done' Well at least all the pink gone from inside. Quote
LoKi_79 Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 Urgghhh, can't stand rare steak. Gota be 'Well done' Well at least all the pink gone from inside. that is exactly what i thought about 10 years ago - couldn't understand how parents could eat it rare. and funnily enough, they used to eat it well done when they were younger as well. now if it is over cooked it just tastes like leather.. abba Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 I can't beleive no body mentioned pepper sauce 1. cook your steak to the required pinkness(Medium Rare all the way nd look at my age) 2. Deglaze the pan with a splash of brandy, stiring quick nd if u got a gas hob get some flames goin:eek: 3. then put another spalsh of either brandy, or maybe redwine in nd reduce a little 4. while its reducing, between stiring get some whole black pepper corns nd crush em under ur biggest knife just by pushin down, not worrying about the whole ones 5. pour some cream in at this point stiring till it makes a sorta strange light brown colour 6. tip these pepper corns into the pan stiring still and serve thats the best way to make a pepper sauce for ya steak imo goes best with some aberdeen angus steaks nd some biiiiiig mushrooms, nd of course thin crispy chips I sorta like cooking, nd treat myself to a full on fry up when im off school:rolleyes: nd help the parents when making curry from scratch no packets in sight, except for spices;) Quote
