Anne1599968726
Headbutting a beach really makes you think about protecting your head. I wouldn't be without my MX lid now, but its exceptionally warm. I know its cold outside just now, but when the weather heats up and I'm out on a sunny beach all day, my head is going to melt! Any recommendations for summer helmets?
.Joel1599968690
Hi anneski, not 2 sure what u chasing here. I use a 661 mullet. Front: http://www.extremekites.com.au/gallery/members/Joel/equipment/helmet_661_mullet.JPG.html Side: http://www.extremekites.com.au/gallery/members/Joel/equipment/helmet_661_mullet_side.JPG.html Inside: http://www.extremekites.com.au/gallery/members/Joel/equipment/helmet_661_mullet_under.JPG.html I wear this in anything up to about 35 - 38 degrees. Anything over that I find it a bit hot to be on land so I jump into the water. However u being in the UK and your climate, your tolerance levels for the heat are probably much less then mine. So this helmet may not be what u are after. Anything sub 22 - 24 degrees and i'm cold and will wear my hoodie over the helmet. Rich Holloway
For summer a light coloured lid, either white or silver, will help keep your noggin cool.

8015
Never liked protec helmets from a kayakers point of view, don't reckon i would trust them in the buggy either. I just use my MX helmet all year round. I used to use an old cycle helmet, I broke that into 3 pieces at Stevenston with a wipe out into boulders. Have to admit my head was perfectly OK because the helmet took the impact as designed (it doesn't need to stay intact), but they do not provide good all round protection as a rule, unless you get a downhill one which is like an MX but with vents and lighter, and will cost as much or more. Admittedly I use a WW comp kayak helmet for kitesurfing where I could easily take much harder hits than were envisaged when it was designed (if it was designed). Anne1599968726
I didn't even trust cycle helmets for cycling. There must be MX helmets with vents, surely?

Smiley Mike
if ya after a mx style full face, but want it cooler, go with giro or troy lee designs (expensive, but make the best DH biking helmets!) I use a white giro remedy http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=15161 http://www.starbike.com/images/Giro/2006/remedy_red_white.jpg I used it in wales last summer, and kept cool all day And it has a REALY wide field of vision - the widest out of all the DH biking lids that my mates use edit: and is also very lightweight Hope this helps. Mike Mike, I am ith you and wouldn't be seen without my full face push bike helmet. Great field of vision, keeps me cool in 35+ degrees (Well as best anything can) and having had to use it in anger one day, I know it is up for the task.
