Mark Rose Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Life's all good at our end. Our residency application is in and being prosessed and should take no more than 5 months. The summer is in full swing and it's not too hot. Just got back from hol's in north NZ and as part of the trip we visited 90 mile beach. The coach drove the length of the beach and stopped part way up for photos and stuff ,then when we reached the top end we spent some time boarding down the HUGE dunes. The beach it's self is 63 miles(not 90) of hard packed sand. The day we were there the wind was 12mph dead on shore so a full length run was do-able for sure. Gray Steel is looking at coming over for a visit and it would be rude not to go for the full length attempt when he does. I would deffo get back in a buggy for that. The beach is just magnificent and MUST be conquered.

I don't think I'll ever do anything as exhilarating as Flying down the miles of Mablethorpe beach at 40 mph+ with my bum inches off the sand and powered by nothing but a little skill and a kite. Mablethorpe (pre-ban) on a clear sunny day and onshore beach was an absolute joy. It really was fantastic to be there among other Buggiers flying in formation, overtaking and being overtaken. If I'm ever in a position with bags of spare money and time I'll kit myself up again.
