THE SPASM Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 Im just starting to do rotations. what can i do/buy to stop my leash twisting round my depower rope? I currently have it hooked into my spreader bar. Im using a waroo bar Quote
kiterMD Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 A few suggestions 1. Learn to spin both ways (you'll look so cool) 2. Unhook briefly after the spin, the leash will sort itself out (only if you feel comfortable doing it) 3. Hook leash to chicken loop (only if compatable with your quick release, you don't want your kite flying away if you release) Good luck and have fun Quote
THE SPASM Posted December 14, 2006 Author Report Posted December 14, 2006 Sounds fair enough. What are spinning spreader bars like? do they work? Quote
Crob203 Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 I have this problem on my arcs, but its not really a problem unless your pedantic about things being neat, ive had about 10 twists on it and the safety still released fine. Chris Quote
oc1rob Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 you could (if compatible) swap to a Flexifoil Chicken loop as that has a spinning leash point on it. But obvisouly no good for unhooked moves as once you loose it you have lost your safety too. Quote
kiterMD Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Sounds fair enough. What are spinning spreader bars like? do they work? That'd be a good option too. I've never used one but I've heard good things about the slingshot surefire spreader bar. It could come in handy until you're spinning both ways. Quote
andrewlcblueyo Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 Spinning spreader bars are fine. Make sure the attachment for the leash is on the spreader bar hook. If it is not then spinning it won't untangle your leash. The Maui Magic Spinning Spreader Bar has a little loop on the top of the hook for your leash and it works very well, think you can get it from powerkiteshop. That said, it is still a pain having to unspin it every time you have rotated it (either deliberately or not!). I used it with a PL Phantom. Quote
zarmple Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 just learn how to do front and back rolls both ways.. i was in the same situation ages ago, even thought about getting a rotating spreader bar, but thought sod it, and went out and tried back rolls the opposite way, and then 2 more sessions later attempted front rolls.. its easier than you think.
