OK, ive grilled the local lads with this topic and on the edge of placing an order after trying both kites in light winds..

Puting it to the wider audience.

What would you choose and why? (Excluding Cost)

The pulse is SUPER stable and will preforme well in any wind you fly it in! overall i think the pulse will be the better kite for you!

team rider pimpage!!!!!!!!! you havent even seen how the guy rides, yet you reccommend him a flysurfer kite because you prefer them?;) scoops was kinda doing the same thing for pl, but you should know better rich:D:D joking mate, hehe

if you really want to know whats best for you, the only way to know is by trying the kites for yourself.:) which you have done. get another go in more reasonable winds and then decide. no kite will give u huge jumps or anything in sub ten tbh.

If you go for the pulse go for the 10. I have both venom (v1's 10, 13, 16) and flysurfers (pulse 10 and P2 13). I don't fly the venoms anymore except for the little 10.

The pulse has more pop and is much much more easier to do tricks with. Since being on the pulse I have serious come along. I can jump higher and sooner with the pulse than any of my venoms.

The 13 pulse is apparently a different beast and many people don't like it. The 10 pulse is faster, more poppy and lifty and has a serious wind range. The 10 pulse covers my 16 v windrange and seriously eats into the 10 v

Personally I would get out and try both. With the Peter Lynn and flysurfer kites you will alway get negativity from people on both sides...you will see the pimps come out. In the end it what works for you. For me pulse all the way, and as said before...frenzys :D

I found the 10 pulse you can really chuck about.. the 16 venom was just too sluggish for me.

Some people have said about clean winds....which you don't need. Some pulses need a knot moving on the B line that sorts the stability out. This is easy to do and there is plenty of help on foilzone and requires no undoing of the speed system. The knot is basically the WAC+/- as on the P2, voodoo's etc. Why flysurfer didn't introduce a series of knots instead of the one moveable knot I don't know. One thing that I am going to change for myself.

My pulse flew like a bag of toss in gusty winds when I renewed the speed system. Before it was rock solid. Then I found I had to move the knot a little. Now it's fine (I may actually just need a little more).

I don't move the trimmer until I reach above 25mph so there is plenty of wind range. Then it's just pulling it in a little.

What ever you pick your looking at two top quality kites. I have a review up on kiteatb if your intrested.

If you get a pulse go for the orange one if you can find one... much much nicer looking IMO

Also you be intrested to know that the kite comes with the feature to reset all the bridles to how it came out of the factory so you can take into account for any bridle stretching that may occur over age.

How light were the winds? If you talking below 10mph then don't look at any of the kites you have listed. I have got jumps on the pulse in 10mph but you have to really chuck it about and get some speed up...which it allows. Below 10mph...fixed foil or a very big depowerable... 15mph..pulse :)

Personally the first go on a kite doesn't do it for me. You need at least 3 go's before your mind is made up. Then again...the pulse took 1 go and that was it.

This is coming from a person that flys V1's mind... v2's may be totally different

yea it was my VII 16m and it was very light winds prob just below 10. I cant comment on the pulse coz I havnt tried.

 team rider pimpage ?? lol dont think so.... was just saying my honest opinion.... Sad Pander has posted on another forum asking the same thing and to be honest what he wants the kite for i think the pulse will be the better one as venoms need a bit more wind than pulses to get going..... not saying Yeah get a flysurfer pulse coz they are soooo much better than venoms all am saying is thet for what sad pander wants the kite for he will be better off with a pulse :)

Thats all i was saying :p lol as sym said the best way to find out which kite is for you is by getting out and trying them in the conditions you will want the kite for....

I love responses like this. Really, don't hold him to this, he's plain wrong. :p

Having had time on a range of Vs and the pulse 10 (I own the 7m myself) I'd say go for the pulse. Its more efficient, more fun, more direct and has a bigger range. Yes, you heard that, BIGGER RANGE!!

Takes gusts btter than a V as well. Think of the pulse as a foil based bow-style kite with a more useable depower range and without invert problems. It also relaunches in the most amazing way. if it hits Le down, ether crank the bar hard and jump back or yank on one of the oh **** handles, the kite'll just spin up and off towards the edge about 45 degrees up, with minimal pull becasue of the depower. (Linear as opposed to on/off)

I was flying my 7m pulse inland at a small field (really small, 40 foot trees lining up and down-wind 2 line lengths apart) and the wind was gusting from about 15 up to 30mph. I wasn't exatcly having the greaest fun, but the kit ewas performing beautifully and I felt quite safe. The other kite there ( 10m voodoo) wouldn't even get in the air let alone stay there. Best gusty wind kite I've ever flown by a good margin out of anything, including most of the arcs.

That said, venoms always feels more marshmallowy to me, so if you're lazy with your bar inputs and want to be able to ride with hands off the bar and against the stop, then think about the V.

In 15 the pulse will be comin into its own, then will stay there to nearly 30.

Hay skullfish. You going to have another go on my pulse now I have trimmed it...even more stable

Up for a crazy kiteloop and speed run session like last time? I feel the need to hurt myself again :o

pulse > venom... end of...

better low end, better top end, better turning speed, more float, far better safety system. much easier to set up, better feedback, much better relaunch (ie: it actually relaunches:p)

"STABILITY" i hear them cry, yes, possibly in the most unimaginable horrifically turbulent winds where you're flying downwind of 8 blocks of flats in central london the venom might just handle it better, although in those wind it'll just surge and drop back, you'll end up bunnyhopping into the thames - watching the kites at wallop this year i don't remember watching one venom that didn't end up inside out at least once - now i see why the graphics are on the "outside":D

i'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you buy, even the venom, just don't try a pulse afterwards, ignorance is bliss:cool:

COOOOMEON!!! RAAAAGH!! YEAHHH!!!

wibble. :p

Sounds good Daz. Need to get some new kneepads first. I quite fancy the 7 in 35, wonder what I'll hit then?

I however have flown a pulse in winds where I wouldn't want to be on a venom. With wind gusting up like that in such a small space you need something thatcan dump power quickly, the venom has a good depower range, granted, but its not in the same league as a pulse.

so what we are saying is that the pulse pwns the venom?

i agree.

:p

I didnt want to say 'pwns' though. I had too much self respect for that. :p;)

the pwn bit was a joke.
