Skullfish Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 Just out of interest, how many of you do it? Quote

fergus74 Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 I use T-77 too. The blue stuff smalls of coconut...mmmmmm Quote
phantomgaz Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 hi all where can i buy t-77 wax from just checked ebay not on there cheers Quote
Skullfish Posted November 10, 2006 Author Report Posted November 10, 2006 Ditto ^^ I've used tea tree light wax melted onto an old depowerkite's rope and rubbed in which worked alright. any reason why T-77 would be better than this? Quote
Chris Bainbridge Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 I confess I waxed the depower rope, at the beach, with a candle stick. Cheap as chips. Especially good after a wet sandy session as this sticks a lot of sand to the rope and causes a lot of wear. Other wise just ever now and again when the rope looks a bit fluffy. Quote
snowey Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 Adam from Turbulence did mine. Might be wrong but I think he said it was Babybel wax Quote
morleyman200 Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 what does waxing the depower rope do... does it increase the life of it or something??? Quote
fergus74 Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 I got my T77 wax from Airboss.... Waxing the depower rope will reduce friction so extend its life. Quote

Angoose Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 i've just used candle wax aswell as many others. used a purple candle once to do it as that was all i could find so ended up with a jazzy purple de-power rope. will try it multi coloured next time and send a pic:) Quote
Angoose Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 yep and theres also another smelling one aswell Quote
Spook Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 Can it be used on lines aswell? My non-coloured lines don't feel especially waxy and collect sand like a *****. Quote
Angoose Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 if your using it on your flying lines then i'd say go for the T-77 wax. then you have the joys of sniffing the right kite lines to go where Quote
Spook Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 Wow it ain't cheap is it! Maybe I'll go with the candle idea Quote
Angoose Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 just a tad. i got a mate who has a tin so i nick some of his for the flying lines. de-power rope though i sit there for bout 20mins rubbing it down:p Quote
Spook Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 Anyone sell it that doesn't charge £6 for postage? Quote
bathy1 Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 heard ear wax is pretty good , lol. bit painful to get on the lines though Quote
Spook Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 Thread it through?? In one side and out the other Quote
Angoose Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 wot and cut your head off like using a cheese wire  Quote
Westwood Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 25m lines take alot of waxing - not worth it if you ask me. the depower line i wax every few sessions. you would be surprised how quickly you wear down the line when its wet and you have sand stuck on it. just keep a candle in my kit bag and give the line a rub after laying out my lines. Quote
Spook Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 So 27m lines would take alot+2 Oh well, perhaps I'll leave them then Quote
Angoose Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 tis not that long tbh just wen everything set out. snap candle in 2 (if using a candle) then clamp the string between the 2 pieces. just reposition string everynow and then. t77 takes the **** about lol Quote
