ml3575 Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 I am off to Perth (WA) for 3 weeks in March , and wanted to find out if anybody know's what the scene is like over there, is it worth packing the kite's and board? What luggage restriction are there? Will i have to scrub my board completley dirt free? cheers Quote
rod_bunny Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Not much of a landboard scene. Mostly kitesurfing. Beaches are ALL soft sand around perth. Its not until you get waaaaay up north you'll get hard packed beaches. There is a place near Rockingham that you could go... big dried out lake but you will need to get permission from the land yatch club to get on there. www.landsailingwa.com I was there in April & May this year and the wind was pants - The Freo Doctor (seabreeze) has started to drop off by then. I had 2 days out in carp wind for the 2 months I was there. March should be better though... Check out forum at http://www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/default.asp Search for landboarding... a few posts there - not much more than I say here though. Yes your board will have to be clean. We blagged extra baggage allowance for sports gear on Singapore Airlines. Total of 60kg free (my kite stuff was over 30kg ) Glad I took it for the 2 days I used it Singapore Airlines have dropped their baggage limits since we went. Quote
raptor Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 when i went to Oz i thought i had over packed until i saw what other tavellers were taking, mine looked like hand luggage in comparison. as said before more of a kite surf scene rather than flying on the beach. when i was there the beaches had been washed away due to a tropical storm, 2ft drop onto the beach (hangmans bay) north of fremantle Quote
