icualice2 Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 I have just brought a second hand flexifoil balde 1 4.9m and it has a lot of power, scares the **** out of me really. With a little practice, can it be used with a buggy as at the moment I am having trouble with the consent lift. Jason Quote
Mouthwash Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 Several people have succesfully used Mk1 4.9s for cruising, just don't launch it skywards in the turn...! Quote

With a little practice, can it be used with a buggy as at the moment I am having trouble with the consent lift. Jason Yes, I buggy most of the time with Blades. In a gust when you have the kite fairly high up (like overhead) it can lift you from the buggy or if you turn the buggy before turning the kite (typical newbie error when attempting a turn), you can be out of the seat. The better you fly the kite before you jump in the buggy, the easier it will be to start buggying. A tip which will take a bit of practice & helps to keep you on the ground is to get good at using the brakes. Always be ready to apply some brake as soon as you are about to be lifted. You don't have to put the kite on the floor but just a bit of gentle braking is often enough to ease the kite pull. Blades do tend to snatch more than some other kite brands but all power kites can kick you if you get it wrong. Don't be afraid of it but treat it with respect, fly it in the right winds, & wear plenty of protection. You'll be OK. Sand-Yeti Quote
adam_h Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 I use a 7.2 Blade I in low winds, absolute monster! Does try and lift you out of the buggy if you hold it directly above you, but after a few outings you'll be able to predict when it's about to happen. Just keep practicing in lighter winds, wear a lid and some pads, don't be stupid with it, and you'll be fine. Goodluck Adam Quote
Jonny3.3blade Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 As said above treat blade 1s with respect ! but once u learn to fly them u can have great fun with them I own 2 4.9 and 3.3 and still enjoy flying them in me buggy even though i own 2 ozone access . I learnt to buggy with my blade 1s and yes ive had the odd out or 2 with them also i love flying the 7.2 as me mate owns 1 i borrow ! As sand yeti has said they take a little skill in the turn to keep u in the chair i tend to either up turn them or just to roll them over low down on the brakes and let the arse end kick round of the buggy and hold on in a pendlelum fashion thats great fun on wet grass! .
