Big Damo Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 Anyone know a brand of adhesive tape that is sticky enough to stick to the leading edge of a flexi firestorm? Normal kite repair tape doesn't Quote
pyrotim Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 get it to the kite repairer, the leading edge takes a battering and needs professional repair Quote
Big Damo Posted October 13, 2006 Author Report Posted October 13, 2006 Yeah, I know but the holes are only a couple of mm across and not in a dodgy place so I was going to stitch it myself and then put a patch over the top. Quote
doggy Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 put a patch on the inside and outiside. the inside one is held in by the inflation of the baldder and stops bladder squeazing out of the hole. you can stitch it aswell if you really want to. use the heavy duty repair tape that you can get from powerkiteshop, that is what I used on mine that had a small tear. didint need to stitch it. si-fly Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 Just had some repairs done to Ion by flexi which included a small nic in leading edge. This was repaired with a small patch stuck on. Give flexi a ring they should be able to supply this repair tape in matching colour. Quote
doc Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 si, oh right u've got some damage to ur ion - pig - how did that happen - u know u said that u made the hole on the ion bar larger -how much larger did u make it and how did u do it - and is it working ok now - or does the bar slide toooooo easily (what about fraying as well) Cheers Quote
si-fly Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 Hi Doc, sent the 12 kite in for repairs to a bridle point which was ripping away from leading edge!!...dont know if a stiching problem on my kite but my 15 is also showing a bit of wear on same point! ...will send it back when weather gets a bit colder!. While it was there had a patch put on a tiny 1-2 mm nic caused by a bit of shell on beach. As to the bar I made a bolt on eye with about a 12mm hole and then sleaved the depower line with a bit of pvc tubing. No wear so far and I find the bar much better its still a bit grippy due to the soft pvc tubing. If you like it really easy to move use a harder plastic tube like air line. I find you get more feel for the kite as your pulling against the back of the kite and not just against a tight hole which is jamming the line!! Si Quote
