cwignall Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 im thinking of moving toward that direction to be nearer family n wondred what it was like to live in? Im looking for the rural aspect but i dont want to be in the sticks - still want some sort of town etc n my sis said wrexham. any ideas on areas to look at would be appreciated cheers Quote
PKDBod Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 I lived in Wrexham about 10 years ago - Acton, North Wrexham. Handy for Chester for nights out and shopping (9 miles and dual carriage all the way there (A483). Wrexham town centre is quite small but adequate. Acton was ok, quiet, not out in the sticks but close enough to town. There are some really nice villages on the outskirts. Quote
cwignall Posted October 6, 2006 Author Report Posted October 6, 2006 yeah my sister is in chester hence would be ideal Quote
PKDBod Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 There are some REALLY nice places in Chester. It depends on what you are looking for. I actually moved to Chester from Wrexham.. was there 2 years before moving to Bristol. Quote
Sturmovik Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 Live in the sticks, you can have bigger parties without upsetting the neighbours. Jump over the fence and do some mountain boarding, fly your kite in the same field, and chill to the sounds of your favourite music or simply the call of buzzards flying. Wrexham is not the prettiest part of North Wales to say the least! Try along the Dee valley, simply stunning and look out for all the forests I've planted Quote
kevob Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 chester is your best location for ainsdale and north wales - the best kiting locations in the country* * disclainmer - there could be much better locations than those sugested:rolleyes: Quote

Disco_Bison Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 Not Rhyl, for the love of god man don't go to Rhyl Quote
Spiritflier Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 yeah my sister is in chester hence would be ideal If your sister's in Chester, have a look along the N. Wales coast instead of heading inland towards Wrexham. There are some nice semi-rural spots just outside of Flint and Holywell and the best bit is you'll be within spitting distance of some of the best kiting beaches in the country. Not only that but Flint and Holywell are 15 to 25 minutes from Chester city centre respectively. Most of the N. Wales crew fly at Prestatyn, Talacre and Llandudno and none of those locations are more than an hour away from either of the two towns I mentioned earlier. If you want more info on either of those places (Flint or Holywell) give me a shout but if you really do want to move towards Wrexham, give Bernie (his username is Nemesis on here) a shout. Hope that helps, Si Quote
Osamabinkiting Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 Wrexham is not the prettiest part of North Wales to say the least! HAHA!! Biggest understatement this year. Someone once wrote Wrexham is the slum you pass on the way to the real city Chester. Nah seriously if you like chavs live in Wrexham. If you like hillbillies live in Corwen. If you like living among real thick chavs live in Chirk. Though Llangollen is nice though someone mentioned it was full of recovering scouse druggies. If you like chavs with real attitude, a major drug habit, and will kill you for being homeless go to the North Wales coast I recommend Rhyl. Mate stay accross the border in North Shropshire it's much nicerer there. Quote
Spiritflier Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 Well that shows how much you know sunshine... Wrexham, just like everywhere else, has its good bits and its bad bits. Everything you just wrote included comments like; "someone once wrote" and "someone mentioned"... Have you ever lived in any of these places for any length of time? I'll agree that Rhyl's not the nicest of places (unless you head away from the seafront) but on the outskirts you have Prestatyn, Abergele, Bodelwyddan and Rhuddlan... All nice places for the most part and all within easy reach of Chester. How 'bout you stay across the border and keep Wales a pleasant place for the rest of us eh? Quote

Ah but I'm already there in Gods own country. Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi, Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri; Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mâd, Dros ryddid gollasant eu gwaed. Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad. Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau, O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau. Hen Gymru fynyddig, paradwys y bardd, Pob dyffryn, pob clogwyn, i'm golwg sydd hardd; Trwy deimlad gwladgarol, mor swynol yw si Ei nentydd, afonydd, i mi. Os treisiodd y gelyn fy ngwlad tan ei droed, Mae hen iaith y Cymry mor fyw ag erioed, Ni luddiwyd yr awen gan erchyll law brad, Na thelyn berseiniol fy ngwlad. Quote
Osamabinkiting Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 Nicely copied and pasted! Copy and paste? you mean copi a pastio (ac yn y blaen) thirty years in all the above mentioned:p Holywell I hear is very nice and the rest of Cymru is godidog Quote

I think Osama's comments are the funniest thing I've heard and its its good to see we can all take it in good humour!!! BUT Having looked after many of the estates in Rhyl and North East Wales yep I can honestly say that there is an element of truth in it, removing needles from childrens play grounds is not nice work, having to leave site because of a major drug battle between residents, violent domestics, theft from vehicles, elderly residents too frightened to go out, do you want more examples. But I do have friends around that area, but as usual the bad shouts so loud the good is often drowned before it can shine. Of course there are nicer bits too, but the north coast of Wales is a disaster in social and town planning, oh and some of the roads are pretty awful, public services are run by a bunch useless jobsworths (and thats being kind), thanks Denbighshire council you are absolutely s***. Heathtown, Wolverhampton................now that was/is a bad ass place, but had some good friends there, they lived amoungst some serious serious issues, though I never got hassled mainly I always had a large bag full of hammers and axes wih me (for my sculpting), ah great days.(and I looked like Charles Manson at the time) Quote

If you have enough money to move back to N.Wales after the Baby boomers have hiked up the house prices up so much that nobody local can afford to live there anymore then you can choose any where, after Cefn Mawr:D Quote
Osamabinkiting Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 Y gwiwer i fyny ffynidwydden No but seriously Spiritflyer the guy was asking about Wrexham. The further west you go the better it gets. After Wrexham Maelor council have finished with Wrexham and the outlying districts such as Cefn Mawr, Y Waun, Caia Parc, Plas Madoc it leaves you with eternal hope there is a God and his retribution is both terrible and mighty and the council is on his hit list So in the meantime bachgen mawr Cymru am byth Quote
