RedEddy Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Where can I buy some decent water resistant sun bloc from (on the web) and maybe some fitted polarized glasses? Sounds awesome! Piz Buin once a day sun bloc is fantastic in the water, used it this summer and was great. And try sea specs, there are always a few on ebay and they are pretty cool, stay on ur hed in rough surf and polarized too. Have a good trip Russ Quote

Rossall Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 derz, who did you book with ? heading out in October to Soma Bay I hear the Intercontenental Hotel is superb. Still havn't booked just watching the prices drop at the moment. Quote
dErZ Posted September 17, 2006 Author Report Posted September 17, 2006 Booked with Mark Warner, their website has late offers so you can watch the price fall but they charge an additional fuel supplement (ours was 40 p/p) and visa 11.50 and if its last minute 15 p/p ticket on departure Holiday advertised as 375 total paid 441.50 Quote
kiteingcolin Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 no need to pre book your storage, and they hire north boards if you want lucky basket! report back please, i am booking for march 07 (2 weeks) its a fantastic hotel, look back on my posts for photgraphs of the hotel and beach, Quote
marypoppins Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 dErZ I too am going off to Abu Soma this Friday. Paid £495 each total....couldn't stand the stress of waiting for the price to drop even more. Flying with Excelair who curiously only charge £27 for fuel surcharge as opposed to Mark Warner with £40. Just had word from Sandslide1 regarding Abu Soma and particularly drinks prices. Advised to get supplies from Hurgharda airport. Anyone know the airport intimately enough to know whether duty free shop accessible from the arrivals part?........Colin....font of all Egyptian knowledge... Quote
kiteingcolin Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 yes the duty free shop will be open on your way out of the airport, cases of beer are great value, but hide them as the hotel security will not like you taking in your own supplies you can by more supplies of beer spirits from the towns off licience, but !!! you have to do this within 2 days of arrival you must take your passport get a taxi to the off licience as he can park outside while you stock up they check your passport for your date of arrival. over 2 days and your stuck with the egyptian rubbish, yaaaccck!purrrt (spit) Quote

Quote
marypoppins Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 No, not taking any of my kit, just as well given airline prices charged. Hiring all from Surfmotion; who have replied to my various e-mails very quickly. Staying at the Intercontinental and will e-mail you. (not long now!) Quote
mgs Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 dErZ - You can put your Blades in with your main luggage as they will fold down very easily,as with the your harness, bar and lines.(Leave the Blade bags at home). As for your board, sometimes airlines will charge you for the privilege.I always remove the fins from my board just as a precautionary measure you never how your board will be treated by the baggage handling guys once you leave it at the checkin desk. When you land at your destination airport, the first thing you may be thinking," where is my board". I waited for what seem ages, could'nt see my board any where, then I turned around to find it lying on the floor behind me:o Have a good one............. Quote
dErZ Posted September 19, 2006 Author Report Posted September 19, 2006 I was gonna put my blades in my suitcase..not sure whether to take all three Peter from surfmotion said I cant borrow a board and the wind is 6-7 Beaufort.. so Ill probably just take the B III 4.9 and 6.6 I might try and squeeze them into my board bag Kiteingcolin do I have to wear formal clothes in the evening for dinner??? or are 3/4/shorts alright?? as theres not gonna be alot of room in my suitcase Quote
