jnicol Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 for what it's worth - i usually get them home, scrub them clean in a bath with lots of dettol in it, dry off with a clean towel and put vaseline on. This stops them sticking to the bedsheets. Next day you get a thin slightly greasy scab. Don't touch it with your fingers or it'll go septic. More vaseline just dissolves the scab and makes it go runny so i just leave it open to the air and it should be ok. Don't ignore it if it goes septic - see a doc. The clear yellow scab fluid is ok. Stick to the kitesurfing? Quote
payneib Posted August 28, 2006 Author Report Posted August 28, 2006 Stick to the kitesurfing? i would if i could but kirsty jones isnt answering my calls, txts, emails. i wonder why?! i def need to get on the water and stay there! this hurts too much! Quote
payneib Posted August 28, 2006 Author Report Posted August 28, 2006 right. i need to sleep. this is gonna hurt, again!!! Quote
peeter_ Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 as said, i would just clean with antiseptic ect, then just leave to dry out, then you should be good, but with grass burns u have to giv em a good cleaning Quote
dj_germain Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 never use spray plasters on raw flesh/skin, never again... hurts more than a wasp sting yes it does, but after you scrub all the c**p out of the scrap (sand dirt twigs ect), the sting from the sprays are not to bad, it help to keep dirt out of the wound. wound which are not properly cleaned out or kept clean take forever to heal. Sometimes never full heal. also my doc said that it best to get tetnus booster. as it easy to die even weeks after a scrape. Quote
FO Kite Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 In this dry weather it is not a good idea to burn grass. It will cause unnecessary pollution and may spread like wildfire! As far as how long it takes to heal all I can suggest is water it daily and if that doesn't work sprinkle so of your seed on the affected area. Hope that helps Oh and remember "always keep off the grass" F/O Kite Quote
Zotty Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 i'm sure my sis jules will be along soon with the correct method lol.. recently had a grass burn on my knee the size of alaska and man it was a pain to heal.. for a week i tried the "he man/rambo" let it dry n scab thang.. big mistake... BIG MISTAKE.. its a burn not a graze/cut and needs to be treaded as such.. and THE only method is to keep it damp and protected so that cells can be replaced (under the yellow yucky stuff.. yellow is good.. green is bad)... anyways,, after suffering with the dry out thang for the week (cracking when knee bends etc) i joined my sister out in spain for a family holiday and as soon as she saw my knee (jules was/is a nurse thats climbed the ladders of that profession) she hit the roof.. dry? DRY she said.. and to work she went.. she put on some alo vera gel and then a nice neat square of cling film to cover the lot then a clear breathable plaster (can get them in large sizes).. not once did it hurt from that point (and wouldnt have done at all if i had done this from the start). changed the dressing once a day and looked a million times better within 2 days.. big up jules,, and big up aloe vera lol Quote
louisemarson Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 The funny thing is that when you have healed the hair will not grow in your scar! hehe! The yellow stuff is good- it's scab before it has dried. Now go and sit down, and DON'T PICK IT! Quote
Frakke1599968664 Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 The grass I burned on Friday was fine didn't even feel the pain However the hurtin' kinda burns usually gets a good scrubbin' in the shower with loads of shower gel - now that fekkin' stings like a beatch  !! but only the first time after that wide open and dry as much as poss... the padding thing usually hinders the scabbing as the sweat "melts" the scab - but that's OK coz back in the shower after a good sess and the shower gel don't hurt anymore and the old scab drops right off (sometimes:o) mine usually takes about 2 - 3 weeks till the scab is completelt gone and its usually where a pad slipped during a crash where they are the worst... Last hit was at Hydro extreme week end before this bank hols and they're better already Frakke Quote
