145 is a good size for a beginner i dont think you could go much wrong as brunotti is a good make. it all depends on the shape. a long thin board is easier to edge on (go upwind) but less stable for a beginner. thats all i can tell you! i made one myself from plywood and it seems to work fine! :D

yes to both Q's, moose, that is exactly the board and to harry yes unfortunatly i have been bumb enough to buy a 12m storm III (they say im not the brightest bulb in the box but i sure do burn a lot of pretty colours). am also getting a naish X2 12m which i plan on swaping for somthing in the 9m range.

37cm wide and 80kgs...try looking for a 43cm-46 wide board it will help you loads, and be good as a light wind option if you decide to buy a smaller board at some point.:D

Scudda steve on here has 2 brand new caution boards..145 x 4? would be perfect. Both as new and only seen a few hours on the water. Because they are modern boards with new construction they will last for years. Kites and boards from year 2005 onwards will make it easier to learn in the first few months.
