littlemisssammy Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Hi, Im just trying to get myself my first board, and a lot of the second hand ones seem to be wake style, ie they have 2 points instead of a rounded edge at both ends. Can anyone explain what is this shape for? What are the characteristics? Would it be OK for learning on? Thanks! Quote
bushflyer Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 poking your eyes out with;) seriously though, these 'picklefork' boards were all the rage a few years ago. i think they died off due to a few safety issues (see above) apparently the cutout in the middle of the tail gives a softer landing from wake tricks, ive heard it said it can increase edging ability too, but that i cant confirm. any board will work, it's a matter of how much time you want to put in with it. how much do you weigh and whats your budget? for around 200 quid you can pick up some real nice boards. check ebay and the bksa classifieds, as well as the for sale section on this forum. hope that helps. Thanks for the info, it does seem like alot of the older boards have this style but none of the new ones ! Im 70kg, have bought a ocean rodeo one, but having trouble finding a board! Im guessing I need something around 140 - 150cm, and there is nothing going. Only 125 - 130 or 180! Just going to have to keep looking :0) Thanks again! Quote
greenkite Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 ive got a 130x40 green custom kiteboards "jelousy" second hand if your interested. its a proper custom board and will out perform a factory board any day of the week. it will enable you to get up and ride without having to ride a massive board that youll outgrow in about 2-3 sessions. its got 5mm concave full stainless inserts abs rails/inserts and it will take any punishment you can throw at it. its also really light which will be better for you to progress on. if youd like a few pics let me know and ill email you them. the board is plain white with g.c.k logos on it but i can change the graffix if you want.. pricewise.....email me and ill let ya know ....it will be very cheap and i think youd be chuffed. this isnt the board but its the same model....you wouldnt outgrow this for a long time....in fact i think youd make really good progress on it if any good to ya ,pm me http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e61/greenninjas8/greenenvy.jpg Quote
