Sparkie Posted January 18, 2007 Author Report Posted January 18, 2007 Is it still 4.9 weather Sparkie ? Perhaps not today...maybe a 4m but unfortunately i haven't got one so cant try.... Its been of the scale on the cambs weather station today (60+).. May be a tad to much for any kite I've got. Think the smallest access would be worth a shout though... Quote
Minty Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Sorry its late, but happy birthday Mark. Quote

pantman Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 Im off to cambs in a couple of weeks time to visit some friends and was thinking of takeing my P18 up with me and hopefully getting the chance to get a couple of hours flying somewhere new and possably hooking up with some local flyers. Anyone give me some advice on good flying sites and what wind conditions (gusty/clean) i can expect?? Quote
No Fly Zone Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 Pantman. Its well gusty down here and quite a challenge. You might bump into someone at Coldham's Common but it is often used by loads of footballers at the weekend. Plenty of goalposts to dodge round. You might be better off visiting the coast if you have time. Quote
No Fly Zone Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 Those with Blade III 6.6 and bigger. Seen this ? http://community.flexifoil.com/showthread.php?t=111555 Triple A adjuster for 17 quid. I guess you would get a bigger wind range out of the blade III if nothing else. Quote

chrisg3000 Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 Hi there, I'm looking for suggestions of where to fly in the Cambs area. I've been flying a Proteam8 for several years, updated to a 4m 4-line kite last year, and have now gone the final hurdle and got a Competition Pro Buggy. Took the whole lot down to the Gower, S Wales in between Christmas and New Year to cut my teeth on soft sand, but its a bit far to go!! I've tried to contact some airfields but they're just too rude to reply. Has anyone every tried Bourn Airfield? Is it worth lugging the gear down to Coldhams Common on a Sat or Sun or do I get the impression that there are too many people down there kicking balls! Cheers, Chris Quote
Sparkie Posted January 24, 2007 Author Report Posted January 24, 2007 There's always room to fly down at coldhams..(Except folk fest time..) Some one i know had flown at Bourne ages ago and got turfed off... Think it might have bin butch..??? Any how think its a no go.. There ain't many places to go this time of year coz it gets a bit boggy. Quote
peeter_ Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 hi all, as some of you may remember, i was asking fro advice on buggys, as i was planning on making one with suspension for my A2 DT project. well all has now been started and the desining has begun, i will attach some quick CAD pictures of what i am thinking as the design and any feedback, good or bad would be appreciated, i will be fitting it onto the back of a buggy the same as a normal rear axle would be and in a couple of months time will want it testing?? cheers for any help/comments Peter http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/3434/finished64hm.jpg http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/7922/finished11en.jpg http://community.flexifoil.com/%5BURL=http://imageshack.us%5D%5BIMG%5Dhttp://img405.imageshack.us/img405/7922/finished11en.jpg%5B/IMG%5D%5B/URL%5D Quote
No Fly Zone Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 Hi Peter, A few questions/reservations. I don't know much about suspension except that they are normally independant aren't they ? Do you think it will ride ok without independant suspension ? How will it handle a bump under one wheel ? What happens if you land on one wheel ? Can it take the sideways force ok ? I had an idea. If you want to see light weight suspension on something with 3 wheels, have a look in a pushchair shop. John Lewis probably have them. You are looking for something like this ... but remember they are not designed to take so much weight or force. Phil. Quote
Big Gaz Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 I agree the suspension should be independant..... also i think the suspension struts should be more angled..... Most Jumpers dont land level.... Quote
No Fly Zone Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 Wotcha Gaz. Do you know Arbury Banks ? Quote
Big Gaz Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 Harrow Phil, Hows things ? Nope neverheard of it Quote
No Fly Zone Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 OK. Waiting for the weather to warm up ! This place is not far from you. I wondered if it was flyable. Quote
Big Gaz Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 Sorry havent got a clue, what happened to the secret place ? Quote
No Fly Zone Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 I'm just trying to find more flying sites that everyone can go to. The Arbury place looked like it had potential from the piccies. I'm not sure how big it is though. If you are at a loose end one day, could you check it out ? Quote
Big Gaz Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 Yeah ill see if i can take a look. I havent used the buggy since the newmarket ban..... Quote
peeter_ Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 hi, cheers for both the comments, i do agree that independant suspension would be much better but am worried about over complicating it, because of the short time limit we have. also i wasnt sure on increasing twisting with independant, but have come up with a quick re think after suggestions of indepents and thinking i could adapt the current design pretty simply, so as not increasing the work load much if at all http://img318.imageshack.us/img318/2338/finished629dg.jpg Quote
No Fly Zone Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 Hi Peter, I don't really know what is the best design, but I do know that you should research your idea quite well before hitting putting a prototype together. You might have to document why you discarded design 1 and went for independant suspension. Don't believe Gaz and myself, for all you know he could work in vibrator factory. In the real world of design/manufacturing you could waste loads of dosh getting a prototype together when a couple of hours of research would tell you what worked or didn't work. If the purpose of your project is just to practice CAD and metalwork then no problem. On the plus side it is very easy for us to see your ideas in this form and you did come up with design 2 very quickly. Quote
