Only death of a kiter in the UK resulted from teathered flying, may be thats why.

Reason it is dangerouse is if something failed you do not just drop but get ctapulted.

Example if they had let go (accidently) he would have shot forward, under swung and then dropped with no support from the kite and odds on would be on back/head (having under swung).

If something on the kite side failed, he would have acclerated backwards (at best) say injuries.

If A line faile, which I agree could happen any time (but more likly to teathered due to extra forces involved) kite would go into a massive power loop/spiral which as teathered makes you part of the kite line you to will sprial and go inverted.

Not saying don't do it as it is your choice, but trust me 99% of people who try it do so with out any idea of what can happen and are relying on luck

Must admit my main concern was the location and what appearded to be close proximity to members of the public and other kiters?

Even some of the other kiters were at risk if you were to mess up, and in fact you were at risk from them as they did seem to be flying under your kite lines.

Kiteing is a social sport, BUT it does need space.

any kite activity could kill you and i cant see how that is dangerous:confused::confused:

Just because you can not see how it is dangerous does not mean it is not?

Unless some some one has the knowlage/experience make that calculated dessision they will rely on luck, which trust me is NOT a good idea

Yes any kiteing activity coudl kill you BUT they varey in the chance of that, ie 2m kite in 10mph winds no rally chance of the kite hurting you and if it did injury would be very minor. 12m kite in 25mph+ and chances wil increase as do the repercutions/injury.

Again it is up to each person to make their own decisions of what they want to do, BUT it should NEVER put others at risk and it is best to make that decision based on knowlage rather than lack of?

Matt was not a dig at you just a bit of information (based on experince :( ) for people to absorb.

Have fun, Jon
