Bar None Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 Would the powers to be give any reason as to the lack of race dates being provided to National race pilots for the coming year? Mark K248 Its the PKA so its top secret:rolleyes: Quote
big-jon Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 Things are getting sorted, I would expect an announcement in the next few weeks. I think as everything seems to be a bit last minuite this year it is a big hastle sorting out dates and venues, as we have found:) Things will be better in the future -- for us all Quote
Muglai Posted February 1, 2006 Author Report Posted February 1, 2006 I was led to believe that 2 dates had been formulated for the National Series and that one of the dates has been abandoned? As there are now Supercup events being staged at Pembrey and Pendine does this mean these are now potential venues for the National Series?,bearing in mind the calender for this year is already quite full. Does Ainsdale figure in this senario? Mark K248 Quote
big-jon Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 Dunno what has actually been agreed yet Mark, there will be a date at Ainsdale, but I can't confirm when yet! It is a very busy year for races, when you think about it though, with club races, Super Cup's, Euro Cups, Scottsh nationals and English nationals. No-one can say there are not enough races this year though!!! Quote
RedWineRacer Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 I thought two Hoylake dates had beem 'leaked'.:D Quote
Simon Bailey Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 I thought two Hoylake dates had beem 'leaked'.:D I originally offered two dates to the PKA which were accepted, but recently I received notification from the PKA that they no longer required the April date. I have had a request to use that weekend for club racing and unless I hear from the PKA by the end of Feb requesting that it be re-instated, I will be allocating it for club use. This will mean that I will have a harder time next year, when requesting dates at the WSYC, as I will not have used my allocation of OPEN dates for this year, so trying to justify a request for X number of OPEN dates will be difficult. I am unaware of others clubs offers of dates for hosting National rounds, this information will need to come from their elected officials. Simon Bailey WSYC: Class 8 Sailing Master. Quote
8015 Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 Since it is so hard to tell from t'interweb who is in possession of the facts and trying to create an interesting debate and who has missed the relevant information I thought these 2 links might be of use: http://www.flexifoilforums.com/showthread.php?t=89547 http://www.flexifoilforums.com/showthread.php?t=89527 In Summary: In one thread Stephen explains that by agreement with the clubs, the clubs will be running the events with the PKA taking more of a selection committee kind of role. Dieter responds pointing out that CLSC weren't involved in any such discussions, from which it is logical to assume that they won't be organising any events at Pembrey or Pendine. Andy in a separate thread released the dates for 2 national series events at Hoylake, I see no retraction of those, perhaps I have missed something? (Ahah - Simon beat me to it, one has been retracted!) John has just told us that he has been waiting for confirmation before announcing an Ainsdale date. I think we only had 3 events last year so it looks like it's on track to me? (Or maybe not in light of that?) JIM Quote
The Flyin Scotsman Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 Jim, I do beleive the April date that Andy posted has been retracted because it clashed with something else being arranged (not sure what though) Kev Quote
Kiteboyza Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 PKA have got a slot on Pembrey in April....by the looks of it thanks to Graham Steel;) Quote
8015 Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 Wohoo! So with all these race dates at your sites this year are you going to have a go yourself Dieter? So it looks like there will probably be 3 events, I guess that as 2 are not confirmed there isn't much to actually tell the pilots yet. What is the normal method? I find out from the internet (usually someone posts here when the dates are on the PKA website) but is the information disseminated in other ways for those without regular internet access (stickboi for example)? Kiteboyza Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 29/30 April at Pembrey has been ok'd by council. I pressume its gonna be a race day Quote
firekarter Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 Is this a Deffo date or a Maybe date ? Quote
Kiteboyza Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Is this a Deffo date or a Maybe date ? The date is solid, not to sure about race organisers as yet;) Quote
Gray Cloud Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 The PKA will inform you all once everything is in place a not before I'm sure of that. I know that everyone would have liked the dates for the National series before now but I think there has been some changes within the PKA that will be beneficial in the long run. At the moment I am aware that individuals within the committee are working hard to get a really good race series for this year and structure that will continue to work in years to come. I ask you all to be patient, I have the faith that it will work out. No dates will clash with the Super Cup that I’m sure of so go register for that as the Pendine Super Cup is going to be the first major race of the year and not to be missed! Gray Quote
Simon Bailey Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 As Gray has pointed out, everyone is working hard towards to get in place the procedures and policies that are required. The PKA will make all announcements with regards to the National Series, so your patience is both requested and appreciated. Simon Quote
