Goz Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Flexifoil are launching a new race kite called the Blurr in April according to this this website. http://www.blurrkite.com/ There's a small write up on it on page 107 & 108 of issue 3 of Ikitemag. http://www.ikitemag.com/issue_3_mar_apr_2008/issue_3.php Quote
.Joel Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Hi Goz, They also have one more kite coming along with the blur Looking forward to seeing that the Blurr has, partly as it isn't an outright race kite. However it is probably more like a Peter Lynn Reactor, with the race stile attributes crossed with a more stable kite. Regards, .Joel Quote
Goz Posted March 14, 2008 Author Report Posted March 14, 2008 Found a small write up on it by Craig Sparkes (iKiteMag Editor) Click Here Quote
Gog Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Another interesting find there Goz. That iKite mag looks the biz too. Couple of things i dont agree with what Mr. Sparkes says tho. Most race kites become twitchy to fly & very sensitive to any movements or changes in wind, for example gusts or lulls in the wind. My experience with the combat, i've found that this isn't the case. At least with PKD's latest race kite. It is quite happy to be worked through the window. And seems to munch up the gusts without too much trouble. And. A lot of people are thinking that bugging is all about going airborn for the general buggyier and that aerial freestyle is what is all about! I guess this is just a perspective thing. In australia at least it seems to me more buggiers are interested in crusing the beach and going fast. Than the whole aeiral scene. True there are a few freestylers in aus, but most people over here get into it for the sheer speed thrill, or just to get moving without a 2-stroke blaring in your ear. Obviously from his comments the UK/euro scene is a bit different. But again it could just be a perspective thing, because the biggest races in the world of buggying happen euro side. Not sure about the Blurr yet tho. I think that flexi calling it a "semi-race" kite will just be an excuse to put a massive price tag on it. With their basic kites coming in at $500+ it could get very exxy to buy a quiver of Blurrs. Gog. Quote
.Joel Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Gog, Grab onto a Yak, Razor or similar and you will find that they are insanely twitchy compared to your Combat. Both pros and cons to both. What you loose in performance you gain in stability which can pay off over the long run of a race. Regards, .Joel Quote
Goz Posted March 14, 2008 Author Report Posted March 14, 2008 Knowing Flexifoil it will probably come with a nice price tag, if it's to pricey though people will probably just go buy a race kite instead. Would be interesting to see a side by side comparison of the Ozone Cult and the Flexifoil Blurr they look very similar in shape and design. At the moment Flexifoil seem to be lacking an intermediate and a race kite in their range, looks like they are to trying to address this with the new kites coming out. Time will reveal all. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...... to Gog.. I find the combat to be a bit of a luffpig in gusty conditions moreso than the zig and much moreso than my other kites though Iv only flown static. Dont want that 6.0 dropping out and then suddenly going wack in some "oh heck direction". You can catch some to most luffs but those combats lurve smooth wind. Cheers, Nas. Quote
Gog Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 NAS. You will find the combat luffs a lot less when in use on the buggy. With that said tho, it's still a race kite and needs to be moving to keep it happy. The three rules i use when flying it, 1. Keep good line tension. 2. Keep it moving. 3. Keep it away from the edges of the window. Luffing during gusting disappears when you and the kite are in motion. @Goz. I agree the flexi have a massive hole in their fixed bridle range these days. They seem to have the beginner and freestyle markets well covered. But as far as the advanced traction kiter and racer, theres some deffinate holes. The problem i have, when looking at price and quality together, is most other brands have it in the bag. Ozone quaity is awsome and their prices have come well down on last seasons range. And other cheaper brands like PL, PKD and HQ seem to increase in quality with each new release; without the price going with it. @Joel. Is the Razor the old ozone race kite? Before the Yak... Gog. Goz Posted March 14, 2008 Author Report Posted March 14, 2008 Pretty hard to find fault with Ozone quality Yeah the razor is the yaks predecessor Gog. Quote
Goz Posted March 23, 2008 Author Report Posted March 23, 2008 No gohard its not a replacement it's more to fill in between the Rage and the Blade Faster than the Rage, but less lift than the Blade Quote
Goz Posted April 18, 2008 Author Report Posted April 18, 2008 The Flexifoil and Blurr Websites has been updated and a few of the UK Online sites now have prices listed. http://www.blurrkite.com/ https://www.flexifoil.com/products/kites/blurr/detail/174/ Wonder how long until we see them in Australia? Steve Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 Soon I hope Goz, we have been pestering for info for weeks, but I will step it up a notch. We will make an announcement on our website asap. Quote
.Joel Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Hi Guys, Blurrkite.Com is now ONLINE! You can watch the promo video on the website. Or download the High Def (165mb) Version. Product Info: Regards, .Joel blurr_productinfo_uk.pdf Quote
Goz Posted April 19, 2008 Author Report Posted April 19, 2008 After watching the video a couple of times and reading the information they have released I'm really hoping this is one kite that lives up to it's hype. Sounds like it's a halfway mark between an intermediate kite and a race kite so far. Can't wait to read some independent reviews of it in the near future. Wonder if Ozone will be tempted to bring out something in their range between the Cult and the Yakuza now? Quote
Jon Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 We've actually had the press release Joel posted above for a few weeks, but it arrived when Matt or web site maintenance guru was on holidays, so it got overlooked, thanks for the reminder Joel. The looks really nice, race kite shape with a deeped profile, great graphics as usual from Flexi. The handles look the goods, lets hope they are as good as they look too. Have asked again for shipping info, will make an announcement soon for sure. Quote
